So it goes for 1 afternoon from 1-6.30pm. And then everyone goes back to a hotel for a $45 meal?

Who is running the event Ken?

perfect opportunity to showcase ravendale night footy and the 'flash' new clubrooms and we put on an afternoons games and then send everyone 5km away to a hotel when they are looking for a meal and plenty of refreshements. Disgrace
This looks te be the first nail in the coffin. The future of ravendale is doomed

Who is running the event you ask? .... the marble range ex presidents.

Another great idea that has been stuffed up by the powers that be.

One would have to agree Ironknob - It seems unorganized and a half baked carnival. What had a lot of potential, is now just a kick on a sat arvo and everyone pisses off. Some will pay $45 and go to the Tasman some will return to their own clubs.
This was a great chance to show off ravendale and Port Lincoln and you dish up this?

One visiting club out of 20odd on the EP tells you something.

However I would not point fingers to individuals knob (former MRFC Pres), the PLFL and Ravendale need to have a good look at themselves as a whole.
Why dont ravendale take this on? Do ravendale not have the volounteers to organize a decent carnival and showcase the place? Is it all being left to councilors Jim Pap and Mick B?
What is going on out there ken / IK?

Hey knob she has only been a short time so give her a chance. Anyone who knows her, knows that she will give it a fair crack. It is all good to sit on here and point out the crap things that are going on but if you dont like what is happening then get off your arse and get on the board and do something about it.
She is the Marble Range ex president but she is also currently employed by the current Tasman coach so dude chill out she will do what is best for footy in general.

I think that the league are hoping they can build on this over the coming years.
Certainly $5000 is something all clubs could do with and is an attractive prize.
I dont know how the Tasman will go on Saturday night but thats another issue,
would have loved a couple of Night games this time of year.
All football followers need to get down and support our teams and have a beer.

I am predicting 1000 people to ventrue to the home of sport this saturday. The netball carnival in the morning followed by the football in the afternoon will see a bumper crowd.
I am worried about catering but this is a first and lets just see what happens and make sure we build on it year after year. Obvious improvements will be made next year.
This was a PLFL decision to incorporate a hotel in the day and leave us out which just goes to show.
Should be a great day out and some great sport being played. Come along for a beer and enjoy the best sporting complex in country SA.
Looking forward to seeing our new recruits and the kids taking the next step.

I believe the home of sport is going to be quite vacant this saturday, with the people who choose to watch some football venturing down to the icy wind of Ravendale.

BTW, your sig is a bit dated.

One venue will have 1000+. One venue will be a ghost town.
A sign of the future?

Does not make it the home of sport fella.

Not when all six footy clubs, hockey, baseball, and goodness knows what else have to give up so much to keep the bloody place open.

Our hardworking, never rewarded commitee keep the place open. with the assistance of the TFC and PLHA. No one else. You do not realise how much work these people do, as all the work has been left to a few tireless workers. They deserve the recognition.

When you have something like this media park come and see me

So the tithe you get from Baseball, and then foist them on a dogbox clubroom in a corner of the facility?

Or the times that Boston, South, Marble Range, Wayback or Mallee Park had to sacrifice their own revenue and have a "home" game at Ravendale?

No, the other clubs do stuff all, obviously.

And I can't come and see you in any case, you are a faceless keyboard warrior.

Dont bring baseball into it? They got a free gift from the council out here and should be very appreciative of what they have. They have very little support and the sport is dying. They should be grateful
As for the footy clubs playing out here. Have you ever thought that maybe they wanted to play out here on the best surface on the EP on the best sized ground with the best changerooms and facilities ?

In Port Lincoln:
1) Centenary
2) Poole
3) Daylight
4 and 5) Ravendale and Mallee's.

Crap atmosphere.

Ravendale:
No cover from the wind, carparking around 1/4 of the oval, only can drink cans unless you get stuck upstairs away from the football, shocking pools of water in the wet and a scoreboard you can hardly read in the sunlight (when there's sun, and when someone knows how to operate it). No planned improvements, apparently they made it perfect.

Poole:
Wind breaks, Car parking around 90% of the oval, cans outside, bottles inside where there is still a great view of the footy, traditional scoreboard apart from the dodgy sign on the front. And massive improvements in the pipeworks.

Gee, unless I'm Ian Burfitt, I'd rather be at Poole Oval every week of the season.
