In a game which was always going to have a bit of feeling in it, there was plenty of heat on in the first few minutes, with a bit of wrestling, and a huge hit (completely fair) hit on ralston. SMOSH managed to stick with Seaton who had the very decisive breeze in the first quarter and seized cotnrol in the 2nd quarter.
Interesting to note a couple of things:
- Marshall is still comfortably Seatons best player.
- noted by a couple of Former Seaton players who would have been pretty handy for the Ramblers on saturday, apart from Patruno, there didn't seem to be another key target for the Ramblers, where as Smosh had 3-4 tall targets going forward. Perhaps on the small Pedlar reserve this isn't too much of a factor with Midfielders kicking goals, but on a larger ground, it seems to place on lot of pressure on Patruno to kick a bag.
- Strange that it took Seaton almost the entire 3rd quarter to react to a loose man in defence when Seaton had the wind and needed to hit the front to have a chance of winning. NM was this a lack of awareness by the players or was there no instruction to man the loose player up? Great move By Minners that Killed any chance of Seaton wining the game.
Was a fantastic day and was well supported by the Seaton crowd.
Huge upset by Scotch. Hope we don't get the reaction from Iggies on saturday.
What was the turn out like at SMC turbo?? the weather killed it last year!
what about the actual oval??
any better then it used to be or has doogs let it go??
massive upset for iggies, they cant be to happy with that.
Has really evened up the top 5 even more now.
With a few to come back from all reports, they will still be a force come finals time!

Ground was a bit uneven Fisty. Not the worst I've seen it, but not the ebst either. Dugs has done a good job on the centre wicket apparently, but with the sort of traffic that oval gets (up to four games on a saturday, plus numerous trainings during the week) theres not much recovery time for it.
I stil don't understand why they got rid of the real goal posts and got the midget ones in. That happened the year after I left: I didn't get it then, and I still don't get it now. Robbed Seaton of a goal late in the game IMO. Goal umpire called a goal (I was right behind this one) a point. Taller posts would have made it obvious.
Comprehesive for Portland on saturday? Thought Kilburn might have given you a scare with your players out and their encouraging form of late.

Having said that, no amount of inclusions will help them if they continue to play the sort of insipid, uninspiring football they dished up on Saturday. Full credit to Scotch though, as they continually pressured the ball carrier and hardly missed a tackle all day. Their play certainly didnt reflect their current position on the table.
