In a game which was always going to have a bit of feeling in it, there was plenty of heat on in the first few minutes, with a bit of wrestling, and a huge hit (completely fair) hit on ralston. SMOSH managed to stick with Seaton who had the very decisive breeze in the first quarter and seized cotnrol in the 2nd quarter.

Interesting to note a couple of things:
- Marshall is still comfortably Seatons best player.
- noted by a couple of Former Seaton players who would have been pretty handy for the Ramblers on saturday, apart from Patruno, there didn't seem to be another key target for the Ramblers, where as Smosh had 3-4 tall targets going forward. Perhaps on the small Pedlar reserve this isn't too much of a factor with Midfielders kicking goals, but on a larger ground, it seems to place on lot of pressure on Patruno to kick a bag.
- Strange that it took Seaton almost the entire 3rd quarter to react to a loose man in defence when Seaton had the wind and needed to hit the front to have a chance of winning. NM was this a lack of awareness by the players or was there no instruction to man the loose player up? Great move By Minners that Killed any chance of Seaton wining the game.

Was a fantastic day and was well supported by the Seaton crowd.

Huge upset by Scotch. Hope we don't get the reaction from Iggies on saturday.

What was the turn out like at SMC turbo?? the weather killed it last year!
what about the actual oval??
any better then it used to be or has doogs let it go??

massive upset for iggies, they cant be to happy with that.
Has really evened up the top 5 even more now.
With a few to come back from all reports, they will still be a force come finals time!

Ground was a bit uneven Fisty. Not the worst I've seen it, but not the ebst either. Dugs has done a good job on the centre wicket apparently, but with the sort of traffic that oval gets (up to four games on a saturday, plus numerous trainings during the week) theres not much recovery time for it.

I stil don't understand why they got rid of the real goal posts and got the midget ones in. That happened the year after I left: I didn't get it then, and I still don't get it now. Robbed Seaton of a goal late in the game IMO. Goal umpire called a goal (I was right behind this one) a point. Taller posts would have made it obvious.

Comprehesive for Portland on saturday? Thought Kilburn might have given you a scare with your players out and their encouraging form of late.

goal umpires are getting as bad as field umpires over the last few weeks, a Portland player had a shot from about 10m out slight angle, missed comfortably, missed by that much no one even tryed to con the goal umpire in to it, our players started to make there zone when the goal umpire signalled the goal, the kilburn players went off there nut and rightly so, i was right next to the field umpires when this happened and players were going nuts at them there reply was we wernt watching, so cant over rule, in wasnt going to change the game as we were allready comfortably in front in the 3rd quarter but isnt that part of the field umpires job to get in there possitions to make sure they can see anything else going on?

You make a good point about the traffic the oval gets, no way to fix that really.
Yeah heard the pitch was re done, think that happened the year after I finished.
Cant remember the goal posts?!

yeah in the end it was, was only 4 goals in it till half time.
then we came out and kept playing good footy, kilburn seemed to give up doing the things they had done the first time round and in the first half of saturday.
Was good to see blokes step up with the injuries we have out.
We thought of it as a real danger game before it started.
get on board the thunder train!!!

just looking at the fixture for the rest of the year portland have the 3 best teams to play in the next 3 weeks were seaton have scotch, kilburn and mitcham all very winable games, there will be many more changes to the 5 before finals start dont worry about that

Not entirely true, Teaoby,as when fit and/or available Whiteman, Tomich, Carr, Zillante, Kerins, M Boyd and Reynolds would all be automatic inclusions in Iggies' A grade side.

Having said that, no amount of inclusions will help them if they continue to play the sort of insipid, uninspiring football they dished up on Saturday. Full credit to Scotch though, as they continually pressured the ball carrier and hardly missed a tackle all day. Their play certainly didnt reflect their current position on the table.

im glad you added the 2nd bit because, show me one team in the comp with a full strength side and 21blokes on the feild that are fully fit. how is jimmy connell going? hasn't played that many games this year?

I agree completely that sides would rarely be at full strength or full fitness at this time of year. I was simply responding to your statement that Iggies didnt appear to have too many out on Saturday.

Jimmy Connell missed quite a few games at the start of the year due to injury, but is getting back to full fitness now. Is a handy player when fit.

Seen the big hose talking to the umpires after the game, might have been reported then, I thought they did a pretty good job, I heard that the female umpire reported someone not in this game but a few weeks back for asking her for her number, anyone know if this is true?

LOL. I heard this too. rumour has it, there was a slap on teh A$$, followed by asking for her number. Her response, was well you can't have my number but you can see wednesday night at the tribunal. Hahahaha, fair enough too!

Thought they paid a couple of wishy-washy frees but overall were pretty good. And most improtantly, kept control of the game at all times in a pretty willing encounter.

Pretty average behaviour from a CLub official if found guilty.
