all ahead of Punter I'd suggest. I thought tactically he was very poor in England in 2005 and in India last year although the selectors didn't help a great deal in that series. Winning percentages aren't the complete picture of the how good a captain is, you need to have a look at the troops at their disposal and how they are deployed.

Regards,

We know he was poor in England, lets move on. He's become a much better captain from the experience. Winning %'s aren't everything but he's hardly a bad captain WITH that %. It says he's not bad, end of story.

No doubt Watto. My point was that the other blokes were all pretty good captains so not exactly a knock on Punter that he wasn't up to speed with them. Tubby copping a bit above, not sure why as he was a very good captain. His field settings were very good and he was the perfect skipper in how he used Shane Warne in particular. How soon we forget boys.

Everyone's a bit...'testy'...tonight.

regards,

Regards. ;)

Excellent start to this innings and it sounds like there's been a bit of drama so far. Also for anyone who's wondering, Smith has breaks to two of the knuckles on his little finger. They're saying on the radio he will be up against it to play again this series.

Also, edited my post mainly because you never know if Smith will try to pull some heroics again if circumstances call for it.

Now Kallis has copped it, a beauty of a ball, but I think Kallis will have to retire as well.

Johnson to Kallis, no run, do we have another injury here, not a pretty sight! Short on middle, struck Kallis on the jaw from under the helmet, he's in pain and is bleeding, the physio is out and it may take some time before he's back on his feet. Lethal delivery that

Looking at the replay you wouldn't think it's anything more than a gash, a few stitches and he'll be back on.

Boucher at the crease now, golden opportunity to rip through them leaving Kallis to play for survival if he comes back on.

Spot on. The WACA of old. Great bowling by Johnson. 2 wickets and 2 retired hurt.

There's one for ya spelly. When did a bowler last be the cause of two batsmen retiring hurt in an innings? Do we have to go back to the Windies?

Brutal stuff from Johnson, great to see from an Aussie quick.

What's the record for most 'retired hurt' batsmen in an innings?

Probably, but I can say for certain that five Indian batsmen were absent/retired hurt in 1976 in an innings against them.
