Indeed I reckon you are right, although I'm going from memory rather than research.
It's not as if we were desperate when he made his debut either, like we are now.
Amazing how some get opportunities and others not.

Just have to rebuild,maybe like AFL teams who have some players that are older and are better players but have been basically sacrificed to allow much younger players to gather experience and hopefully progress to a few years down the track when the team will be more competitive.Obviously theres a great deal of money thrown in to the cricket academy,also there is so much more money involved some of the players i believe are playing too much cricket,chasing more dollars playing 20-20 overseas and for their country.Maybe Australia should be at the stage where should start selecting more players to specialize in one or two of the different formats and rest from playing all three.

What the hell has Smith done to esculate him above any other hopeful in the land, his averages aren't that great, yeah, he can hit a ball in the short version of the game but I wouldn't mind facing him.
Everyone see's a leggie and immediately thinks they'll be the next Warnie, there wont be any close to him for ages yet, maybe with a lot of intense one on one training and Smith might get close, until then we should be looking at playing an in-form side.

An in form side, well see you later North and hello smith! Smith should be in the side as the number 6 batsman! He averages something like 46 in first class cricket, has played two tests and already made a 70 odd! Give him first crack he deserves it ahead of Ferg atleast

Johnson should not play for australia again until he learns to bring the ball back in to right handers.

Jimbo, the few times we have seen him do this, he has been almost unplayable, unfortunately he has only seemed to do this with the white ball.
