Killa the stat man.

Can you please find out Clarkes batting stats for NSW before he was selected for Australia ?

That one I don't know, I believe it was just above mid 30's similar to ferguson's current average

Indeed I reckon you are right, although I'm going from memory rather than research.
It's not as if we were desperate when he made his debut either, like we are now.
Amazing how some get opportunities and others not.

Just have to rebuild, maybe like AFL teams who have some players that are older and are better players but have been basically sacrificed to allow much younger players to gather experience and hopefully progress to a few years down the track when the team will be more competitive.Obviously theres a great deal of money thrown in to the cricket academy, also there is so much more money involved some of the players i believe are playing too much cricket, chasing more dollars playing 20-20 overseas and for their country.Maybe Australia should be at the stage where should start selecting more players to specialize in one or two of the different formats and rest from playing all three.

Nathan Hauritz is no Shane Warne, but sadly Xavier Doherty is no Nathan Hauritz

now we all know how the english felt for the last 20 years lets just hope its not going to take CA 20 years to sort there sh*t out.

Think North has to go now n play Smith now and then give Ponting one more summer in Australia and his time is up. get some young blocks in playing international cricket befor the 2013 ashes

What the hell has Smith done to esculate him above any other hopeful in the land, his averages aren't that great, yeah, he can hit a ball in the short version of the game but I wouldn't mind facing him.
Everyone see's a leggie and immediately thinks they'll be the next Warnie, there wont be any close to him for ages yet, maybe with a lot of intense one on one training and Smith might get close, until then we should be looking at playing an in-form side.

An in form side, well see you later North and hello smith! Smith should be in the side as the number 6 batsman! He averages something like 46 in first class cricket, has played two tests and already made a 70 odd! Give him first crack he deserves it ahead of Ferg atleast

Smith is just a Cameron White without the experience.

Jimbo, the few times we have seen him do this, he has been almost unplayable, unfortunately he has only seemed to do this with the white ball.

He'd mean the fellows at the top of the batting and bowling averages...

Usman, Blizzard, The Dave, Ronnie, Fat Kid would be the batsmen...

We're in diabolical strife with our bowling attack, I've always maintained the same stance on spin bowling, if we don't have a world class spinner, don't play one.

Not saying it's a bad thing, just not used to it (first memories were of the windies here in 88)

I think it's good that it's evened up but disappointed the other countries didn't catch us, we just got worse.

You're right, we dont have a world class spinner, so don't play one. What is the reaction of the Australian selectors when faced with the prospect of not having a world class spinner - pick two spinners
