hh3 any club that, given a reasonable period of time, can't get their act together.
It's all about working hard and working smart.
Only 8 or so years ago Hackham had dual under 14 and 16 teams. The club started taking things for granted and stopped working and all bar disappeared up their own b_ms. To Hackham's credit you are now out there trying to rebuild. This is hard work and you will not get there overnight.
All that I'm trying to say is that clubs need to be encouraged to do things to enable them to attain sustained success. They shouldn't be told that it's OK to keep bumbling around and not strive harder and the league just rig the draw to try and give them unearned false rewards. This ultimately does struggling clubs no favours. Next year they are seen as one of the more successful clubs and have to play more games against the stronger clubs and they're back to square one.
Is there still a place for 2 divisions?
Why would we want certain teams to field 2 14's and 16's teams when some are scrapping for one. Not us. We have about a team and a half of 14's and more than a team for 16's. The A's and B's are both fielding teams with a fair few missing out all together now.
Everybody knows that when a team is struggling it takes a few years to rebuild...now think about how long the team needs when TWO teams are dropped all together and all players leave. The clubs on the rebound and we're under no illusions how long its gonna take.
And on the draw. We have more top teams than Aldinga and Lonsdale...obviously Aldinga were in the same boat as us but with the growth of the area theres gonna be a lot more talent around. Lonsdale, by there own omissions, made the finals 3 consecutive seasons leading into 2008 but still have less top teams in 09..so dont try and tell us that MORPHETT VALE have it tough because of the draw. So the top teams have to play the other top teams more. What would you rather spend the year playing us twice, Aldinga twice, Lonsdale twice? Stop your wingeing about nothing.[/quote]
d_h_3 I'm not whingeing. I'm saying that a rigged draw isn't going to solve long term problems for you. You have to do that yourselves.
In regard to dual junior teams. Was it just a coincidence that Hackham A Grade was winning finals back when you had dual teams? Do you think that it is a coincidence that all of the top clubs have dual teams? I believe that you have dual teams amongst your minis so don't make any silly statements about not wanting dual teams.
Do you think that Lonsdale are a successful club? Does making the finals mean anything with this draw? Winning finals is what counts. That sort of success only comes to a club with vision and a plan and the resolve to work your b_ms off to achieve success. Do you think that they have a future without juniors?
Morphett Vale went for 23 years without an A Grade flag. They were looking down the barrel at relegation 2000. They weren't doing things right. They were happy to pick up a junior flag every year or two. They had to change the way that they did things. There was much pain. There were many changes made. There was much hard work done. There was no help given by a rigged draw. Once again, you have to make things happen yourself.
Reynella have not won an A Grade flag since 1977. People bitch about them being successful. I don't call that successful.
Reynella don't see that as successful. They see the need for change and have taken steps to make those changes. Those changes won't be easy. Changing the culture of a football club is very very hard. David Earl, Dave Murdock and Committee are spending a lot of time and are working their ringers off to improve the club. This is the attitude needed by all clubs to attain and then to sustain success. Bitching and whingeing rarely changes much.
Denis Ker is a good man. Your President appears to be on the right track. Don't bitch. Put your shoulder to the wheel next to these blokes and help work your way to success.
Just in case you didn't know Morphett Vale FC were instrumental in helping to set up the Hackham Football Club. We erected your first set of goal posts and helped to run fundraisers etc etc. So don't get your knickers in a knot and think that MVFC and world are against you.
I wish you all of the success that you earn. Good luck.
