Yeah the rivalry against Adelaide is more heated than the Melbourne Derby at this, give the Melbourne a few years and abit of history and it will be bigger.
The atmosphere at a Melbourne Derby is huge though because of having a fairly good split of supporters like 60-40, where as an Adelaide- Melbourne is more like 80-20 in favour of the home team.
Without being rude to Adelaide while there is a rivalry Melbourne don't look at Adelaide as a great threat due to the finals victories, they have alot more respect for Sydney!
this is the derby with the most amount of anger in it....27 games....131 yellows and 8 reds, dirty tackles etc etc
and i am sure the heart/victory is a bigger derby and melbourne sydney one as well
i see it as melbourne/sydney (man utd v liverpool) - derby of the nation cause there the two biggest to teams. heart/victory (arsenal v spurs) local rivals that hate each other cause they live with each other. victory/adelaide (chelsea/leeds) derby cause they just hate each other and where there from and incidents in past games.
