Yeah the rivalry against Adelaide is more heated than the Melbourne Derby at this, give the Melbourne a few years and abit of history and it will be bigger.

The atmosphere at a Melbourne Derby is huge though because of having a fairly good split of supporters like 60-40, where as an Adelaide- Melbourne is more like 80-20 in favour of the home team.

Without being rude to Adelaide while there is a rivalry Melbourne don't look at Adelaide as a great threat due to the finals victories, they have alot more respect for Sydney!

this is the derby with the most amount of anger in it....27 games....131 yellows and 8 reds, dirty tackles etc etc

and i am sure the heart/victory is a bigger derby and melbourne sydney one as well

i see it as melbourne/sydney (man utd v liverpool) - derby of the nation cause there the two biggest to teams. heart/victory (arsenal v spurs) local rivals that hate each other cause they live with each other. victory/adelaide (chelsea/leeds) derby cause they just hate each other and where there from and incidents in past games.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Good call!! I blame the poor mans Muscat...... Ross Aloisi ;)

U could say as well teams like Brisbane/Perth have a rivalry similar to West Ham/Sheffield United due to nothing more than one incident which sparked it!

There will aways be hatred between United and Victory.
Its the Italians v the Greek dogs.
Victory will always be prediminately Greeks and United the Italians.
Just like the grand old Juve v Hellas days

Saw my first game for the season tonight - enjoyable first half; 2nd half lack lustre.

A few of the key players ran out of steam as the game wore on.

Much more enjoyable than the rubbish dished up a year or 2 ago.

Also, Flores not really a factor.

One of the best halfs of football seen at Hindmarsh for a while tonite. Galekovic would've saved both Victory goals.
Flores got the boos and about half a dozen that I saw victory fans had an early night.
Great atmosphere with over 14k in attendance. Jeronimo has to be on from the start.

I was one of the 14,000 and left a very happy man. I was sitting on the western grandstand side in the bleaches so had the perfect view for the play down the right side that led to goals. U REDS

It's not about not playing for Adelaide its about where he went, he could of gone anywhere else and we wouldn't of cared. Also lying to the fans straight to our faces, so there is a few thing to do with it. I was annoyed at first with the club but I have never been happier to eat humble pie, he turned out to be nothing more than a mercenary.

Serious question not just Adelaide bashing as I usually am

There was an interesting interview with Cassio where the conversation ended up being about the finals system.

Without exactly quoting him he pretty much said that in his opinion and his attitude is that the minor premiership is the only trophy that counts and he doesn't consider the finals important.

Now I tend to agree with him that finals in soccer is rubbish BUT is that the attitude you want from a player when his going to be coming up against blokes who would give their left nut to win the Premiers trophy. I would Kosmina would be trying to change the mind frame before the seasons end.
