What is the club doing with their money?

Oh forgot about that, how long until it is paid off?
I think you will apend this season, may not be as much as other clubs but there are some real quality players out there going at a decent price

I had a feeling that there was still money owing on Arsenals stadium, but the Gunners have been significantly overpaying on repayments. so should own it freehold soon enough.

Should be in a hugely strong position when that happens!

Arsenal won't really threaten until they get some seriously loaded benefactor
£60m is sweet fa these days when players are earning £250k (£10m) a year.

Even when they finally pay off the debt for the Emirates, they just don't have enough dough to compete with Chelsea, City or United.

They will take comfort in finishing 4th as in reality these days qualifying for the CL is more important than winning the EPL title as it is worth more financially.

Arsenal have been lucky over the last few as there hasn't been anyone else to threaten that CL spot. Spurs have made a push recently but fallen short. The big loss to the CL battle is Liverpool. They have been woeful over the last 1/2 a dozen years.

A stronger Spurs or Liverpool would seriously threaten Arsenal's CL position. IMO Man U, Man C and Chelsea are going to be there for the foreseeable future leaving 1 CL place for whoever is strong enough to claim it. Should Arsenal miss out, it might spell the end of their top 4 status.

When that happens, assuming he is still at the helm, Wenger will be gonski

Well that is almost all correct but Arsenal have money they choose not to spend it (they told arsne he has something like 70 mil to spend + what he earns from selling players he doesn't want) and if they want to do more than just finish 4th they would need to buy some players. i.e. they may not be able to afford falcao, cavanni etc at 50 mil + but they could buy a striker in the 20-30 mil range but they wont, they will buy a player in then 8-15 mil range with potential.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

That's my point Duce

70 mill means jackshit in today's market. The transfer fee is almost irelevent compared to the wages. Rooney is on £10m a year so over a 3 or 4 year deal you are looking at £30 - £40 million, and that's just one player.

How many players do City have on their books earning, say, more than £100k a week (£5.2m) a year.

Until Arsenal get an Abramovic they are in danger of being an also ran competing for 4th place with Spurs and Liverpool

if that's what you want to believe then for sure.

but its not what I believe but its my choice. With the right choices in the window this year then I see us finishing in the top 2. We don't have "world class" players wanting to leave the club this time and the first time for many years. So I see a better than before future for us this time. But again, that's my choice. Yes, 70 million is nothing compaired to whats being used at the moment, but it can also work if the correct players are included.
