Probably cause it isnt a local fish, and must admit I rarely order it here in Adelaide knowing it cant be fresh, but when up in Darwnin for work I always order it, superb.

Shark (Gummy/School/Bronzie) - only tried Gummy 6/10 or Ghost shark 7/10

Salmon better than whiting...?? Each to their own I guess.

Nannygai are usually marketed as 'red snapper' and blue morwong are passed off as 'queen snapper' in fish markets. Both are great on the tooth and better eating (IMO) than the iconic Pagrus Auratus...

IMO whiting is a very bland flavourless fish, but I did grow up eating mainly Coorong Mullet, Mulloway, Flathead & Salmon, trips to my uncles at Edithburgh with promises of the best tasting fish always left me disappointed unless we caught something else with a bit more flavour

Obviously your taste buds are f***ed or your cooking it wrong.

Snapper is very average.
Callop is very nice.
Fresh blue fin on the BBQ is awesome, but out of a can? Come on.

For me its Flathead, blue fin and Garfish.

Snapper - depends on how you cook it, if it's baked and kept moist it can be very nice, if let dry out or try and fry, yes it can be very average

Tuna - I just haven't tried it yet (other than a can), most likely would like it

Flathead - couldn't agree more, the best eating fish I have tried

Callop - Fun to catch, but I haven't found a fresh water fish that I would go out of my way to eat....just a personal opinion.

Tommy Ruff - caught and eaten on the same day cant be beaten
Garfish - a very close second
Bluefin Tuna - Smoked and eat it cold, Magnificent.

One that is not on the list that I would have had in the top three is Snook. Grew up eating it a fair bit as a kid and have always loved the taste, bit like Mulloway/Kingfish. Be interested if anyone else likes the taste of Snook.

Yes. Fresh is very nice. Golden Snapper is very good too. Spanish Mack is my favourite up here.

nothing wrong with snapper when filleted fresh and crumbed. Bloody shithouse when it's baked though.

Gar taste good but they are a pain to clean a fillet and there will always be bones.
Not normal to eat bones.
Agree on the Leatheries as well very nice fish to eat.
Baked Salmon is good also.

Absolutely love snook, Chump! Got to be fresh though & skinned. Great fish for the smoker too (skin left on). Nice & oily. Great slab baits for snapps & whole baits for sharks. Fun to catch on 10cm hard-bodied minnow lures, although they generally fight like old boots after the initial ambush strike. I'm a bit of a fan of cold, cooked snook too. Cooked the night before and added to a garden salad the next day.. Yummo! Strong fish taste though, so not everyone's cup of tea.

To all those that have dirt or plant pots in the backyard grow some DILL as Magic Kiwi said. It is brilliant on seafood. Piece of p**s to grow.
