Pseudo wrote:Worst service I ever had in a food joint:
About 5 years ago when we were living at Glenelg we had a friend from the UK staying with us. One night we wandered down Jetty Rd in search of a meal and ended up in Gringos: the mexican place on Moseley Square.
I placed the order to the blonde bimbo at the counter: "We'll have nachos to start and X, Y and Z please".
"Do you want all your meals together?" she asked. Odd question, I thought, but I said yes.
Presently the meals - X Y and Z - all arrive prior to the nachos. "We wanted the nachos first", I said. No big issue - I figured they'd just hang onto the meals for 10 minutes while we got stuck into the nachos.
At this point the bimbo who took the order called out from the kitchen: "You said you wanted your meals together". I tried to tell her that I asked for nachos to start with - every time I opened the mouth, she just came back with "you wanted your meals together". She exited the kitchen and trudged over to our table, yelling at us that "we wanted out meals together". Pointing out that I had asked for nachos as a starter, I was told loudly that "nachos was a meal". Never mind that the menu board had two distinct columns labelled STARTERS and MEALS, and Nachos was listed under the former.
Eventually she says "I asked you if you wanted your meals together and you said yes, remember?" I agreed - I had said that, insofar as I wanted my meals to come together - AFTER the nachos. Upon hearing me say yes, the manageress walks over and tells me shortly "if you don't take your meals now then I'll throw them away and charge you to cook them all again".
At this point I relented. The nachos were duly placed in the middle of the table and the meals along with them. Our friend from the UK was flabbergasted, and our mood was ruined.
Prior to that experience we had visited Gringos about once every 2 or 3 months; it was a good place to get a large junk mexican meal at a reasonable price. However since the aforetold experience, neither of us has set foot in the joint.
If you're ever looking for a Mexican place at the Bay, I can thoroughly reccomend Monte's on Partridge St. The one at Holdfast shores is also of high standard. But ferchrissakes avoid Gringo's like the plague.

By now I was at boiling point.
I kick a chocolate display down and told him he was a f*****g crook.
I got to his enterance and dropped the food on the floor, splattered it
over his shop window and all over a lollie vending machine.

Couldn't agree more blink. I live about 5 doors away from the Hampstead and get down there for at least one schnitter per week. I steer clear of the restaurant though, different matter entirely...blink wrote:The Hampstead is a ripper. My mates in Adelaide live right next to it, I stayed there a few weeks back for Showdown and ate pretty much all my meals there. Every night in the Sports Bar they have a $11.00 Pint & Parmy. Huge, delicious snitty and a pint of Carlton Draught for $11!!
Also the Sunday roast are tops as well, in the main restaurant.

you can add a side of beef for the veal schitty too smac. Have devoured an entire herd over the past footy season with them hanging off both ends of the plate
