They have done everything right here.

(a) Took over from Chrysler and employed all for more than a decade.

(b) Do you own a 360...?

If they can't sell the product, they realy can't stay in bussiness...?

Well Done Mitsubishi.....

Why didn't the State Government buy more fleet 360's.

It isn't rocket science....

I heard that a year or so back. I heard it wouldn't happen straight away, but the number of components sourced from China would increase continually, and then eventually the unthinkable...............

Having worked there for nearly 10 years until 2005, i would like to wish all the people at Mitsis (even the ones in Bull5hit castle) all the best in the future.
Going on my own experiences it might be the best thing for you guys, no more rumours, no more uncertaintity, gettiing out of your comfort zone, a decent package.
Good luck guys!

Why didn't they make a more appealing car?
We all know they needed an all wheel drive machine to interest the export market!
Just not fast and furious enough!

We built a AWD Magna a few years ago but never took off mind you they didn't advertise it at all. I have always at union/management meetings asked why we don't build a diesel 4 cyl but apparently that's not what us Australians. want to drive.

Toyota Tom Philips IMO was always a coward (he knew the 380 was a flop from day 1) and let Rob 'the hatchet" McInery become the burier of Mitsubishi Australia.

either way some one is sitting on a gold mine as that area is no longer seen as industrial ..just look at house prices in mitchell park these days ...a mate of mine bought a townhouse in mitchell park about 4 years ago when they started to upgrade the area turned around and sold up last year for a handy 100k profit

Unfortunately Ford will be the next Australian manufacturer to close, apparently there is no export program for the Falcon, and apparently an export program is essential for profitability, there just isn't enough market in Aust. for big 6 cylinder cars. :(

When I was at Mitsi, I realised that the plans for the latest Magna at the time were hatched 5 years previous, that's how long it takes to fully design, test and manufacture the new model.

That means that Mitsi needed to be looking well ahead into the market (like some other manufacturers did), but from my perspective, looked at the Commodore and Falcon staying "big" and trying to mix it in that market, rather than go off on a slight tangent and either go "green" or go "small". I think Mitsi as a company would've looked at the Lancer as their export saviour for the small market (as it's not manufactured here), and therefore left Mitsi Australia with no choice but to build a 6 cylinder car.
