Horse meat - Would you eat it?

Postby Q. » Fri Jul 16, 2010 2:22 pm

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/07/16/2955234.htm

Mr Garreffa says he understands that Australians have a sentimental attachment to horses.

"I am so conscious of that, that you have got to realise that it is really pulling at the heart strings," he said.

"If somebody told me that we were going to start eating Jack Russells tomorrow, I would be horrified.

"I love my Jack Russell and I miss him because I lost him last year but hey, emotions are one thing."

He says at this stage, the controversy has probably scared other butchers away from selling horse meat.

"At this stage I think that if they experience the backlash of emotion, they might think twice, but I have had enormous support from customers and people in Western Australia who don't even know me and unknown people from around the world," he said.

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

I don't see why not...lots of other countries eat it especially mainland Europe and as long as it has been bred and farmed for that purpose like beef or pork and wasn't someones pet or anything then what's the problem?

This could be combined with the racing industry as part of the food preparation process. Enter a nag in the 2 PM at Morphettville, let the jockey give it a good tenderising, then serve it up in the buffet at 8 PM.

oooh you probably wouldn't want to eat a racer...too much exercise, it'd be as tough as old boots...keep those ones for the glue factory I reckon ;)

Ive tried Roo, Emu, Croc & Snails so I don't see why I wouldn't at least try horse meat, the missus wouldn't have it in the house though so it would have to be out, she was horrified when someone bought marinated skippy fillet around for me to cook on the BBQ
