Cult Heroes

Postby Wedgie » Thu Dec 29, 2005 6:02 pm

Who would you describe as Cult Heroes of the SANFL?

Not as many as there used to be but Full Forward seem to dominate in my eyes.
Daniel Hargraves is a real cult hero at Prossie at the moment.

Other full forward that spring to mind are Grenville Dietrich and Rudi Mandemaker.
Perhaps Tim Evans, Tim Giniver,Ralph Sewer, Mick Redden, Rocky Roberts, Rick Davies, Max Parker, Craig Balme and Peter Carey too?

There's a great recollection of these sort of players on McAlmanac's site at: http://www.geocities.com/golden_rams_aust/Legends_of_SANFL.html

Seems to be mainly a big man thing, hat do ya reckon?
Perhaps I'll start a poll on the greatest Cult Heroe when we get some nominations.

As a Victorian I can confirm that Grenville Dietrich was a source of fascination and marvel to us on the other side of the border.

Scotty Hodges to bring up another full forward but probably the biggest cult figure ever in south australian football....

Andrew Newton Jarman...always was and still is to a point, they dont make 'em like him anymore....
Don't play games with a girl who can play 'em better...
