ADELAIDE REGION SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
For Damaging Winds and Very Heavy Rainfall
For people in Adelaide and the Mount Lofty Ranges District
Issued at 7:55 pm on Thursday 21 December 2006
Thunderstorms are currently located near Ardrossan to Port Wakefield and are
expected to affect the northern and western suburbs between 8:30pm and 9:00pm.
Damaging winds and very heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding are possible
with these storms.
A more general Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains current for Adelaide and the
Mount Lofty Ranges and other parts of the state.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should take sensible precautions
such as:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure loose outside items;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains;
* Don't walk, ride or drive through flood water;
* Stay indoors away from windows while storms are nearby.

The Weather Bureau warns that thunderstorms are expected to affect the northern
and western suburbs between 8:30pm and 9:00pm. Damaging wind gusts and very
heavy rainfall are possible with these storms.
The next warning is due to be issued by 9:00 pm Thursday 21 December 2006
