The NEW Walkers Arms

Postby Footy Chick » Tue Jun 15, 2010 2:37 pm

Went for a nosey with Nanna yesterday and it's very impressive  Although couldn't get a table for lunch, the food looked sensational and can't wait to go and try it..

I can see many a lazy satdee in summer being spent in the beer garden 8)

Can't say much about their pokies though - lost a pinapple :(

Anyone else been?

You mean what DONT they have! and the best thing by the looks of it was that they don't seem to cook in bulk, meaning you're always going to get freshly cooked food, instead of it sitting there for hours...

A pineapple is a term for a 50 dollar note. Like a 20 is a rock loberster and a 10 is a banjo

Went there last night for a couple of beers, very nice, good friendly staff. A couple of problems I can see is the sunken lounge and the the cafe style booths that are on a step. I saw one older bloke go a gutser over the steps last night and a number of near misses by people of a variety of ages. I hope their public risk is paid up! I thought the beer garden was great and also the bloody pokies banished to the back, in the old Walkers that bloody things were in yer face all the time......well done as far as promoting a family image. :D We have lived within 100m of the Walkers Arms since 1994 and have watched the re-birth , brick by brick over the last 18 months, great to have a decent place for meals within short crawling distance.

I'll try it sometime - it used to be my local when I lived in Vale Park, then Klemzig, and after my first wife and I parted I ate there most Friday nights.

Broke my cardinal rule in a pub "never order pizza" two nice sized but very short on topping pizzas arrived. A couple of bites and almost totally devoid of flavour :( Another diner said that the dips were very bland as well. I'll be more sensible next time and order a steak or schnitzel.

Wow, it must be popular. I rang them yesterday (Friday) to make a booking, and the reply was: "Sorry, completely booked out Fri, Sat and Sun". Is it just because it's new, or is it really just THAT good?
