Your favourite classic catches

What are the best you have seen in Test & One Day International cricket over the years?

These are 5 of mine:-

1. Steve Waugh v West Indies 88/89 ODI , He was running towards the sightscreen to cover a shot descending from the troposphere at night at the SCG. He took it and the crowd went beserk. Amazing judgement.

2. David Boon v India 1992. Mohammed Azharuddin clipped a ball sweetly off his pads and it was going like a tracer bullet. Boony snaffled it at short leg. Incredible reflexes.

3. John Dyson v West Indies SCG 1982. I think we all remember that one!

4. Roger Harper v England ODI @ WACA in January 1987. It was the Americas Cup one-day challenge. Harper was at fly slip and Chris Broad guided one high in that direction. Harper just lept vertically with one arm outstretched and took it like he was plucking an apple from a tree. It was just the pure athleticism and ease with which he did it that amazed me.

5. John Emburey v Australia @ WACA in the same series as above. Dean Jones hit one straight down the ground and it was heading for six. Emburey thrust an arm up right near the fence and the ball stuck. Wasn't exactly textbook but it looked spectacular.

Peter Taylor took a ripper in the early 90's in a World Series Cup final.

Mark Taylor took some classics in test and one dayers (about the only thing he did in One Day Cricket!)

David Boon catching Devon Malcolm (?) to get Warne his hat trick in Melbourne.

Glenn McGrath catching Michael Vaughan in Adelaide when Vaughan was 160 ood.

Roger Harper at a deep mid off in a one Dayer in Sydney, one arm straight up and it stuck.

Ian Healy taking Richie Richardson down the leg side off McGrath,I think it was McGrath,in a Perth test.

2nd test 1987 v NZ....

Sneddon ct Valetta b Mcdermott

he took a similar screamer later that season in virtually the same position against SL I think.....

for mine in no particular order

Steve Waugh catching Harper at the MCG in that day-night match in 1989.....Healy took a blinder - diving full length to his left off a Greenidge inside edge, off of Merv's bowlng in the same match.

McGraths catch, Dysons catch,

Healy took a great catch when wrong footed in Adelaide when McMillan I think left the periscope up and the ball went hurtling down leg side, Healy dived to his right and took a pearler...

Waugh rated a catch of Junior Murray in Barbados in 1995 when he run back with the flight looking over his shoulder into the sun diving full length and came up with the catch...when the Windies looked liked posting a competive 3rd innings score for teh Austrealians to chase in the 4th innigs that catch sparjked a collapse that left us 95 to get in the 4th innings to set up a 1-0 lead in that series....

Best stumping - Butcher st Healy b Bevan off a leg side full toss that bounced just before Heals, at Old trafford in '97 Butcher's toe was up for a second but too long for him too survive...

I almost came in my pants when I saw that live as hack 'keeper....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
