I haven't done any protesting about David Hicks but am slowly getting to that stage. We would not let any other country treat an Australian like that but because its the USA we do. If it was Indonesia there would be outrage at his treatment.
I'm not saying the guy has done nothing wrong and but perhaps he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, maybe he has and should face a penalty, but no one knows because no one can talk to him nor will they trial him to any great extent. Its been going on to long and the Government needs to stop sitting on their hands and do something about it.
Since when has treason become acceptable? The knob was over there, by his choice, to be trained by the Taliban to fight against the Western world. His job was to kill Australians. He was caught. He shouldn't be in jail now, he should have been killed long ago. There is no worse crime than treason. Why should the criminals get treated better than the victims of their actions?
There are many people in jail over there who are still awaiting trial. Why should David Hicks receive any special treatment just because he used to be Australian? You fight for the enemy against Australia, you don't deserve to be called an Australian, and should lose any rights you have as an expat Aussie or Australian tourist overseas. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how people can support that guy. If his name was Mohammed Something, and he was born in and grew up in Australia, you'd all be calling for his head.

I have been recently intrigued by this photo from the 1972 season - a Terry Hicks as captain of Ardrossan receiving the Yorke Valley Football League premiership pennant. Judging by recent photos it may be the same one. Can anyone confirm or deny?
