Larchy had a disappointing season. Did his knee round 13 and didn't play again. Don't think his heart was in it anyway. Heard he is going to Yankalilla and he also works down that way. Bit of a mutual agreement that he left Aldinga between him and the club.

Has anyone heard whether Tony Francis (New Brighton Coach) may actually pull the boots on?

According to a radio interview he did on 5AA about 18 months ago, his body is so riddled with injury from his AFL days that playing at any level is not a possibility for him.

Some of the better Southern Footy League teams could play Div 2.

Mitchell Park where about a div 5/6 team at there best, so i guess its fair to say that some of the bigger clubs could play div 2. Still thats a big call Blue boy. div 3 or 4 easy.....

I'd say that the good Southern League clubs would be of Div 2 standard. Some of the middle sides would be Div 3 and the tail would be about Div 5.

This is what i have found on the div 5 thread is it a true indicator of the standard of the Souhtern League...

Shame about that he would have brought some extra people through SFL gates.

The top teams in the SFL (M/Vale, Reynella, Happy Valley) would hold there own in div 1. The SFL have probably got teams top 4 very strong, middle 6 good and a bottom 4 needing work all in one division, which does make the league very lop sided. M/vale played Broadview in a trial match last year and there wasn't much in that and also Morphie Parks played Eastern park the year before and beat them by plenty. That year Morphie Parks fnished about 10th and Eastern park I think just missed out on finals in Div3. As for Mitchell Park they wern't that flash the last year they played in the SFL anyway. You may see some onesided scores in the paper but it's still a very good comp.

Div1 and 2 amateurs no worries, but div3 down the standard drops off pretty quick.

How good were Eastern Park? Thats what I'm going on. What about M/vale, Happy Valley or Reynella, you don't think they would make the grade in div1

come on, not alot of sides field there best site in trial games, there mickey mouse, i think morphett vale could hols their own in div 1, not top 4, but could be competitive on their day... and there is no way morphy parks would be competitive in div 3, div 6 more likely...

I just think its funny how someone playing div 6 amatuers ( i read some of your previous posts) can give the Southern League shit. You obviously arent terribly flash yourself and if your judging the southern league over a trial you had with hackam you are a dead set idiot. If your team came to the southern league you would get smashed just about every week, then you could tell us how shit our league is!

i think a "competition" should be judged as a whole, not just on its best couple sides. Yes, Morphett Vale a a very good side and would probably hold their own against the majority of sides in Div 1. But really only have maybe 2 or 3 other sides in their league which could possibly match them. So this leaves them playing 4 or 5 good competitive matches a year. Every other week they are winning by over 20 goals. In my opininon this isn't a sign of a great league.

So when you have 4 teams changing in majority of the divisions of the amateur league each year does this make for a "great" league or even a good league.

How do you build up rivalries to be played on a regular basis?

I agree that the SFL should go back to 2 divisions but that can't happen with only 14 teams. Until they can attract more clubs into the league there is no quick fix to there problem. The SFL arn't the only league where teams are getting beaten buy 20 goals, even div1 & 2 the top sides give the bottom sides a hammering. Div 5 and 6 is just a very low standard of footy. i would back the bottom 4 sfl clubs against any div5 or 6 clubs any day of the week. It is defiantly easier for the amateur league to get a more even playing field with the amount of clubs and divisions they have, but as i said before, yes there is lop sided results in the SFL and in most other leagues but it is still a good comp.

scottroo, why do u keep harping on the hawks trial game win, its like its your clubs best ever win! get over it. trial games mean shit anyway.
A good way to see how close ur standard is to SFL, is to see how the marion B graders that u are aparantly recruiting go in ur team and league? because if they stand out then u know u are well behind the southern league clubs, even average b grade teams like marion.
