Agree with all of you! Now with Digital TV, all stations have multiple channels so I don't understand why the footy and other sporting events can't be played live. For instance C7 play Friday night footy on an hour delay so that Better Homes & Gardens gets priority. Why don't they play footy live on 7TWO instead that way they can keep their normal programming on 7 or vice versa? Likewise on Sunday arvos. There's nothing worse than getting a text from a mate with Fox telling you the result when its only half time!! Also Ten will play Crows or Power games on the Saturday night which is fair enough, whilst they might broadcast a better game to the Eastern States. With 10 and One, surely they can play both and give the viewers the choice?

The answer to this is very simple.... it is illegal under the laws set by the Federal Government. During the transition to Digital Signal they have a very valid reason for doing this is that not every in has access to the full range of Digital Channels and therefore disadvantaging them and their viewing choice.

One would suspect in 2013 when everyone is on Digital then these prohibitive measures are removed and it works like how you suggest. But by then I bet the commercial channels have found a new way to screw the viewing public over

Does the Standard Definition ONE channel still black out when the identical game is on Channel 10?

Channel 10 tend to show the footy live on Saturday afternoons and Saturday nights if the games are being played interstate.

Seven are crap for it though.

I hate it as much as the next bloke, but it's free to air TV. There's bugger all people can do about it.
