I don't thinl anyone will argue with you on that point braveheart, most Doggies supporters are there for the right reason, just to enjoy the footy. Unfortunatlly, that one idiot (and their hanger on mates) tend to show their ugly heads more often at Elizabeth than most other grounds, although, I must admit, I have seen more incidents from Sturt supporters in the last couple of years, just not as severe as the couple of incidents I've seen involving Doggies supporters.

I went to the sponsers shop today, and felt totally safe at West Lakes shopping centre.

Maybe you all just look for the idiots at Elizabeth just that little bit closer.

Or maybe you like to notice them so you can tell all of your mates about the 'typical' Elizabeth ferals you saw in The Bronx.

And Wedgie - good luck living down south, just as bad as the north apparently. I'm glad you chose to live closer to Noarlunga. Must be the beach air down that way that makes people think they're more superior and less effected by many of the same social issues which trouble the north. ;)

The ground is too far away.

Thank you.

Further to drive than theBay which you've named as your number one oval?
Harder to get to than the Bay?

I think not.

Nah, don't particullary look for them anywhere (and yes, I know ALL clubs have them), the idiots just came looking for us.
I don't view all Dogs (or other clubs supporters) in the same light as the few that try to f#ck it up for the majority though, so I'm not having a go at the majority.

BTW, the worst incidents I have seen in the past 2 years came from Centrals, Sturt, Port & North supporters. Going to every North game, 2 incidents that stand out in the last 2 years probablly isn't that bad (not ideal either), I've been to 5 centrals games in the past 2 years for 2 pretty ugly incidents (one between 2 Doggies supporters before the game started) and a few more minor ones. I've been to 5(or 6) Sturt games in that time and there always seems to be some problem with their cheer squad, but the ugliest incident would have to be a Port supporter @ Prospect in 2005, but all other Port games in the last 2 years, the crowds have been sensational.

Elizabeth = 20.61 km
Glenelg = 19.17 km

I win. BTW, we don't drive to the Bay as public transport takes care of that so that we can have lunch at the Holdy and a few beers at the ground. FWIW, I dine with the Enemy in your Grand Central every game we go to and some of those have not (blush) been Roosters games....

Congrats Kiwi.

BTW, I said harder to get to - I didn't say further to drive (1.5 kilometres further make that much difference???) :)

SANFL ground ranking

Postby Brucetiki » Fri Jan 05, 2007 11:27 pm

Here's my ranking of the SANFL grounds I've been to (excluding Thebarton as I haven't been there - but will on April 25 hehe).

1. Prospect Oval - Great atmosphere, good facilities, very easy parking
2. Broadspectrum Oval - Good facilities, great bbq, though scoreboard looks like a ransom note
3. Hamra Homes Oval - Great atmosphere, good facilities, good parking
4. Woodville Oval - Good atmosphere, excellent hospitality (best ground staff in the league IMO, pity Centrals aren't playing there this year), easy parking, good facilities.
5. Challenge Oval - Good atmosphere, easy parking, though facilities could do with an upgrade
6. Noarlunga Oval - Always a good trip (win, lose or draw), chance to grab a Starbucks before heading to the ground, easy parking
7. Unley Oval - Good atmosphere and facilities, parking a problem, surface a problem
8. Alberton Oval - Good atmosphere, average facilities, poor parking
9. Adelaide Oval - Terrible atmosphere, ordinary facilities, parking a nightmare unless you get there heaps early
10. Coopers Stadium - Quite simply, a disgrace of a ground. Attrocious parking and facilities (it's amazing no-ones been seriously injured at the ground), atmosphere comparable to the opera. The lights, quite simply, are not fit for night games and must be upgraded or stop night games there. The SANFL need to compel Norwood (and/or the council) to fix the ground or stop using it for matches.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Despie being a North fan and loving Prospect Im curious as to how you rate Prospect as having very easy parking and Alberton Oval as poor parking when Alberton has a large reserve next to the outer for parking where Prospect has nothing? Also to a lesser degree Adelaide which has the parklands?

Parking at Prospect - That's my little secret.

Parking at Alberton - I was referring to free parking, which is a nightmare at Alberton

It's like that everywhere, not just Alberton Oval.

Fair enough, I actually get to park about 5 metres behind the Southern goal at Prospect, walk up 8 steps and Im there next to the bar (Taj Mahal) but when rating grounds would look at it from a point of view of everybody and not just myself.

From a personal point of view I rate parking as (all free with media pass):

1 - Prospect - 5 metres behind Southern Goal inside ground
2 - Woodville 10 metres behind Northern goal (closer than toilets)
3 - Elizabeth - inside the ground but about 50 metres away from Northern goal
4 - Glenelg - car park on Brighton Rd about 3 metres away from BBQ but have to walk around to the wing to get in
5 - Alberton - any car park and nice ashpalt car park for media
6- Footy Pk - restriced area but still a fair hike of 5 mins
7- Richmond - car park behind southern goals, used to be better in car park next to clubrooms
8 - Therbarton - normal car park with plebs
9 - Adelaide - normal car park with plebs
10 - Unley - out on streets somewhere - small area where they allow media but always full and a waste of space
11 - Norwood - on the streets somewhere - no area where they allow media - only ground with no facilities whatsoever for media
