Relegation in the HFL

Trooper I am not a Lobey basher. I stick to the facts which are - Lobey quite clearly over the past 3 years have been the worst performed team in the HFL. They are not getting any better and the fact that they still get beaten quite easily week in, week out does the competition no good at all. The only good thing going for them is their oval. Honestly if you look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself will they improve next year based on what we have seen (again fact) the answer is quite clearly no. Then ask yourself what point is there really in getting flogged week in week out next season and beyond and what willyou be saying when people ask you - Where is the crowd, why doesn't anybody come here anymore. WELL I'LL BE , I DON"T KNOW.
At the end of the day the committee has to do what is right for the club, the HFL what is right for the comp. Quite clearly if they (lobey) were a business they would not be around.Once again fact. I come from a low club that has been there and done that and made the hard decisions and now we sit comfortably in the comp and make finals regularly. Look at the comp overall. Small fishin big ponds drown. Thats lobey in 12 months unfortunately.

Got to hand it to Lobey they are trying ....... Have a look at their sporting pulse website which I must say is pretty good. The best in HFL at the moment. Love the comment considerable succes between 1996 and 2006 - 5 GF's 3- Flags............what happened to wononly 2 games since ...... !!!!!!!! Keep up the good work. At least you are doing some things better than the top clubs. Maybe the HFL could have a prize for that.

Well its pretty much set in concrete now... BIRDWOOD will be the relegated team even though they won in the A grade yesterday. They just won't get the required amount of points to get ahead of Lobethal. That being said it'll be interesting to see what the outcome of the 'special meeting' will be. I wonder if Lobethal will push the 11 team comp that hard... surely they've done their math and would realise they are all but safe.

Apparently it just read 'general meeting' not 'special general meeting'. Legal reasons prevented any action last night and the actual meeting will be in two weeks time.

My info tells me during the discussion it was very obvious most clubs did not want an 11 team competition in Central Div. Apparently Lobethal and Birdwood made it clear they did not want to go to Country Div and some of the comments were a slap in the face to Country Div clubs. Both Lobethal and Birdwood are not making many friends over the issue.

Here's a resolution to the problem: GO TO THE 'BAROSSA LEAGUE'.... the HFL don't need clubs like this... BYE BYE.

I have further info Birdwood will be seeking legal advice about the Relegation clause not being addressed properly in the constitution. They will use this to say the HFL can't force them to go to Country Div. What an absolute joke, this was all brought up at the AGM in december - all clubs were aware of the process and no-one kicked up about it then. BIRDWOOD to the BAROSSA would be my vote.

the way the RMFL is going at moment i can see 2 or 3 sides going to central 2 going to country and maybe 2 to the malee, they are all wasting their time and money at the moment in a comp that just does noy work!!

The SFL knocked back Blackwood in the mid to late nineties. I think after 10 - 15 years, the winners and losers out of that decision are obvious.

I think you'll find the Southern Football League will accept a number of clubs as they want two divisions back. In the past the SFL has had clubs such as Kangarilla, Meadows and McLaren Vale. I wouldn't be suprised to see a few Country Div clubs in the mix for the SFL as well. The Hills Football League could be left with egg on their faces if they make allowances and accomodate for a side that is clearly not up to Central Div standard.

I thought there were discussions with Blackwood back then but in the end Blackwood decided to remain with the HFL. I'm sure they would welcome them with open arms now.

ATS, you obviously have no clue of what's going on in the HFL in regards to the promotion/relegation system at the moment otherwise you wouldn't be shooting your mouth off and making ridiculous statements like you are.
Maybe you were just after a bite (which you got......congrats).
If you care to speak with your club rep, they may be able to pass on a copy of the minutes from the HFL meeting in FEBRUARY where it was MINUTED that a club asked the HFL to provide a clear plan of what was going to happen with promotion/relegation for this year, and that wasn't provided.

I know a lot more than you think, I certainly don't need a phone call from someone involved with a club which seems to be delusional. How bout you get the minutes from the meeting back in December when promotion/relegation was brought up and every club accepted the decision 1 down 1 up, no-one argued the issue. You must have a short memory. Can you remember all the way back to 2009 when we were "cut out" and our senior colts won the premiership and the A grade missed finals by 3 wins? Do you think those senior colts that just came up are going to come straight up into the A grade, be guns and dominate??
I'm not sure how your club develops players, but surely you don't think that if club has a bad year, it "can't cut it".

As for the clubs not being "happy" about Birdwood and Lobethal making it an issue, stiff sh1t!!
ALL clubs aren't happy with the pathetic excuse for facilities that Bridgewater currently have and we have to put up with that.

ATS think you will find that the HFL due to the stubborness of both Birdwood and Lobey has no option but to adopt an 11 team comp for 1 year only with the bottom "A" grade club at the end of 2011 to drop down to country. I think you will find a motion being put forward that from 2012 the bottom "A"grade side in central will be relegated only if the premier club from country div wants to go up. It will not be compulsory, but in the hands of the club going up. That is what it should be now - really simple. From an absolute legal point of view Birdwood are not obligated to go down and as the constitution states at present - 10 clubs in central, TV are knackered if both clubs refuse. The other clubs will vote on what is put forward in a fortnight at the re-called special meeting. Even that can be overturned at the AGM.

One thing that amazes me is the actual hatred that exists between a few of these clubs. I believe it had to be curtailed at the meeting the other night. How the HFL got itself to this mess is beyond me. Will be an interesting few weeks.

Great, so another season for the bottom A grade sides to be forced into recruit big $$ players to ensure their survival. Why would any other club support this?
