We wouldn't shop at Cunninghams it's full of Centrals supporters trying to steal the stock.

We don't need to buy any Dinglinga, as we have 13 beautiful ones to go with our Champions of Australia trophy (of which there are only 4 awarded ever).

A proper pre-season comp could be a good way to get some promotion of the SANFL before the season starts. All night games over 3-4 weeks. Would be a good chance to see your new recruits and younger players. If not I would like to see some trial games between SANFL & WAFL clubs or against the NTFL like North did last year. Would be great to see an annual game between the two premiers of each competition held alternatively in WA & SA playing for the *insert sponsor here* Premiers Cup.

Only problem with that is the money side of it, unless the SANFL or WAFL put in the cash to fly the team over.

Its always difficult the have a pre-season comp when you dont have 8 or 16 teams.

An idea is to have an invitational side, from one of the amatuer or country leagues to be a 10th team. Or an NTFL side...

Round 1 (10 teams)
Grand finalists play off in a grudge match ala EPL charity sheild. Loser does not get eliminated, but both teams' score may factor later in the comp.
The other 8 teams play off with the 4 losers eliminated.

Round 2 (6 teams)
The 4 winners and the Grand Finalists play off in 3 matches.

Round 3 (4 teams)
The 3 winners and the loser that has scored the most goals in their matches play off. This will encourage entertaining, high scoring games.

Round 4 (2 teams)
The 2 winners play off for the pre-season cup.

To determine who plays who in 1st 3 weeks, teams are drawn out of a hat. The GF hosted by the team scoring most goals.

i like the idea of a pre season comp even if teams just use it as trials, it still is marketed as a 'comp' therefore ppl may be more interested....and can the clubs, league do more promotion of the schedule for these games, so not only are the die hard fans aware of these games???

Debatable point whether or not that makes it worth more or less punky. North supporters would say "rare and valuable", everyone else would say "obviously not worth two 5hits".

Great format HBT. Perhaps the tenth team could be the NTFL side as their season is winding up then and they would be fully match fit. It would also be a good gauge as to whether they are capable of fielding a competitve side and what sort of support they would get assuming some of the games would be played up there.
