Then last week drop all traing back at least 50% so your fresh.

I only started training this week due to having a shoulder recon 7 weeks back.
I'm struggling to walk, despite only running 4km on Mon and 3km in 150m intervals yesterday.
There's a pretty good program to follow on the city to bay website.
I'm aiming to run it inside 50 mins. Anyone else?

49.58 is a good time mate.
Before my shoulder op, I was comfortably running 11mks in 42-43 mins 3 times per week, plus a couple of sprint sessions.
I'm hoping to get back to that level within the 7 weeks, but injuries are a threat.
I've heard that the way people line up is ridiculous. Is it a good idea to even hang right back and start 30 mins after the official start?

Sounds like you will cruise it in under 50.
Once it's race day you tend to push yourself hard.
"It's a race, it's a race!"
Personally, starting at the back is a nightmare, once you hit anzacs people run about 10 abreast and if you are going full tilt you literally bump people out the way.
Definately worth getting as near the front as possible if you are serious.

19th of Sept mate. Which is generally the morning after most suburban football GF's.
