ADDICKS SWOOP TO SIGN ABBOTT

Charlton have signed Oldham striker Pawel Abbott for a nominal fee, with the former Poland Under-21 star signing a two-year deal at The Valley.
The 28-year-old, who was Oldham's top scorer last season with 13 goals, has signed contract to keep him at The Valley until 2012 and becomes their second capture of the day after the arrival of Simon Francis from Southend.

By the way, did you know that Paul Dickov is the Oldham manager? Dickov played for City, b4st4rd rovers amoungst others, including Leicester City I think ?

IRISH STRIKER LANDS LATICS MOVE

Oldham Athletic manager Paul Dickov has signed striker Dean Kelly on an initial six-month contract after he impressed on trial with the Latics.
The 24-year-old Irishman has been on trial during pre-season and impressed Dickov enough to earn a deal.
Dickov said: "What stood out from day one was Dean's natural ability for someone who plays amateur football in Ireland and who only trains a couple of times a week.
"He is a natural goalscorer who holds up the ball well. He still has a lot of work to do but we believe he has a good chance of making it."

ADDICKS BOSS SNAPS UP DEFENDER

Charlton Athletic manager Phil Parkinson has signed defender Simon Francis from Southend United for an initial fee of £35,000.
The right-back has become Charlton's fifth signing of the summer and has put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

ROVERS SNAP UP YOUNG DEFENDER

Tranmere have signed former Sheffield Wednesday trainee Nick Wood on a one-year contract following a successful trial at Prenton Park.
The 19-year-old defender impressed during pre-season matches against Mansfield and Nottingham Forest.
"He is a talented young player and he has applied himself well here," manager Les Parry told the club's official website.
"He has fitted in well, put in two good performances and now there will be lot of competition for places defensively."
Wood added: "I delighted to sign my contract and hopefully I can push my way into the side and get a regular starting place."

CUMBRIANS SNAP UP FRENCH FORWARD

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott has strengthened his ranks with the signing of French striker Francoise Zoko on an initial one-year deal.
The former Ivory Coast Under-23 international, who is Abbott's sixth summer signing, arrived at Brunton Park on trial in July.

RAILWAYMEN SIGN UP POLISH GOALKEEPER

Polish goalkeeper Bartek Fogler has agreed a two-month contract with Crewe Alexandra and will provide back-up to on-loan stopper Rhys Taylor.
The goalkeeper, as anticipated, has put pen to paper on a short-term deal at Gresty Road and provides cover for Taylor while Steve Phillips remains on the sidelines.
The 25-year-old will complete the deal subject to clearance from the relevant bodies and will wear the number 24 shirt.

BANTAMS BOSS MAKES DOUBLE SWOOP

Bradford City manager Peter Taylor has completed a double swoop for Stoke striker Louis Moult and free agent defender Lewis Hunt.
Promising youngster Moult arrives on loan from Premier League side Stoke until January 3 and provides Taylor with the extra attacking option he has been looking to bring to the club.
The 18-year-old finished last season as the Potters' top goalscorer at reserve level and his obvious goalscoring ability saw him rewarded with a professional deal back in March, with a Premier League appearance coming as a substitute against Burnley in the same month.

Hunt arrives at Valley Parade predominantly as a right-back although he can also operate at the heart of defence.
The former Wycombe and Southend defender, 27, who has been on trial with City, has signed a one-year deal with the possibility of a further year should he make an undisclosed number of appearances this term.

SHOTS CHIEF BRINGS IN QUARTET

Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon has boosted his ranks ahead of the new League Two season with the addition of four new signings.
Former MK Dons, Sheffield Wednesday and Chesterfield forward Wade Small, 26, has signed a permanent deal having impressed during a trial spell at the EBB Stadium.
Winger Jermaine McGlashan, 22, arrives having also recently been on trial at Southampton.
Right-back Aaron Morris, 20, has penned a deal following his release by Cardiff and he has been joined by fellow defender Clayton Fortune, 27, who provides a wealth of experience to boost Dillon's centre-half options on a busy day of transfer activity for the Shots. Fortune played for Conference South outfit Weston-Super-Mare last season.

All four have signed one-year contracts.

MACC NEW BOY REVEALS OTHER OFFERS

Promising goalkeeper Jack Cudworth has revealed he rejected offers from elsewhere to sign for Macclesfield Town.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper, who arrived from Welsh side Rhyl, admits other clubs were keen to secure his services, including an unnamed League Two rival, but his heart was set on a move to the Moss Rose.
"I had a couple of offers to play and one was from another League Two side," he told Town's official website. "But I liked what I'd seen so far at Macclesfield and we seem to have a great team spirit here at the club.

GRITTON COMPLETES GULLS LOAN MOVE

Torquay United boss Paul Buckle has secured the services of Chesterfield striker Martin Gritton on a six-month loan deal.
The 32-year-old returns for a second spell at Plainmoor having netted 26 goals in 103 appearances for the Gulls between 2002 and 2004.
Gritton was given permission by the Spireites to play for Torquay in some pre-season friendlies and he scored in the 3-0 win over Western-super-Mare on Wednesday night.

BOSTOCK MAKES TIGERS MOVE

John Bostock has completed his season-long loan move to Hull after signing a contract extension with Tottenham until 2013.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who became Spurs' youngest ever player when he made his debut two years ago, has been unable to hold down a place in the first-team squad.
Hull had been trying for some days to wrap up a deal for the England Under-19 star but were prevented from doing so due to what is thought to have been a Premier League probe into their finances.

DEENEY JOINS HORNETS' NEST

Watford have confirmed the signing of Walsall striker Troy Deeney in a £500,000 deal.
The 22-year-old has agreed a two-year contract with the Hornets, who have the option of an additional year.
Deeney, released by Aston Villa as a youngster, netted 14 times for the npower League One side last season

CITY STARLET CLAYTON JOINS LEEDS

Leeds have signed Manchester City youngster Adam Clayton on a month's loan.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who has won England Under-20 recognition, has signed in time to be eligible for Saturday's opening game of the season against Derby at Elland Road.
Manager Simon Grayson told the club's official website: "We're delighted to welcome Adam to the club. He is a young player with plenty of potential and he gained some good experience last season at Carlisle.

PALACE CONFIRM BENNETT DEAL

Crystal Palace have signed Nottingham Forest defender Julian Bennett on a six-month loan deal.
Nottingham-born Bennett, who has been at Forest since he was 14, will remain at Selhurst Park until January 3, 2011.
He is included in the Eagles' squad for the npower Championship at home to Leicester on Saturday.

POSH SWOOP FOR RUSHDEN STAR TOMLIN

Peterborough have signed highly-rated young forward Lee Tomlin from Rushden & Diamonds for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old has been a regular for the non league side since making his debut as a 16-year-old and could be involved against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

SEAGULLS SWOOP FOR ANKERGREN

Brighton manager Gus Poyet has completed the signing of former Leeds goalkeeper Casper Ankergren on a two-year deal.
The 30-year-old was released by the Yorkshire club in the close season but Poyet has moved to bring in the Dane after he passed a medical.

BEES LAND SIMPSON ON LOAN

Brentford boss Andy Scott has completed the signing of Huddersfield striker Robbie Simpson on a season-long loan deal.
The 25-year-old made just 16 appearances for the Terriers last term because of injury following his £300,000 move from Coventry.
But he follows Gary Alexander and Pim Balkestein in joining the Bees this week ahead of the season-opener against Carlisle.

HATTERS SEAL WILLIAMS DEAL

Stockport have signed left-back Robbie Williams and he will make his debut in Saturday's League Two opener at Southend.
The former Huddersfield defender had been a free agent since the end of last season and further bolsters Paul Simpson's squad at Edgeley Park.
Mansour Assoumani, Mark Lynch, Jordan Rose and Barry Conlon have all arrived at the club since the former Shrewsbury boss took the helm last month.
Simpson has also brought Plymouth Argyle striker George Donnelly back to Edgeley Park on loan until January.

ROBINS SWOOP FOR JEFFERS

Cheltenham manager Mark Yates has bolstered their attacking options by recruiting young Coventry striker Sean Jeffers.
Jeffers will link up with the Robins as part of a month-long loan deal and will go straight into the squad for Saturday's League Two opener at Gillingham.
