In 2009, Champion Data predicted Montagna would pick up 29 votes:
Champion Data's Top 10
Gary Ablett (Geelong) 32 votes
Leigh Montagna (St Kilda) 29
Dane Swan (Collingwood) 23
Nick Dal Santo (St Kida) 19
Lenny Hayes (St Kilda) 19
Alan Didak (Collingwood) 18
Brendon Goddard (St Kilda) 17
Joel Selwood (Geelong) 16
Paul Chapman (Geelong) 15
Kade Simpson (Carlton) 14

Actual Brownlow tally:

Top scorers:
30: Gary Ablett (Geelong)
22: Chris Judd (Carlton)
20: Lenny Hayes (St Kilda)
19: Simon Black (Brisbane Lions), Jonathan Brown (Brisbane Lions)
17: Adam Goodes (Sydney), Nick Dal Santo (St Kilda)
16: Joel Selwood (Geelong)
15: Bryce Gibbs (Carlton), Marc Murphy (Carlton), Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda)
14: Matthew Boyd (Western Bulldogs), Brendon Goddard (St Kilda)
13: Jimmy Bartel (Geelong), Leigh Montagna (St Kilda), Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood), Bernie Vince (Adelaide), *Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn), Brad Sewell (Hawthorn)

In short, Montagna was another example of the Champion Data stats not tallying with actual votes last year.

Exactly CK why the Brownlow is for fairest and most brilliant and not for most gatherer of posessions - hence why Kane Cornes doesnt get votes for his 35 metre kicks and run around the back of players who have earnt a free etc to suck the ball for an easy stat.

Hard to go past Swan, but might put a bit on Hodge and Goddard.

Easier than you think. Similar year to last year, and has a very poor polling history.

rubbish - 2007 ran about 5th when he wasnt even invited to the medal, last year he was low because the umps felt they had over voted for him that year, this year he will poll better.

to be honest i think they would of focused more on swan this year, so i suspect he will win.
im just hopin ablett comes top 3.
i think ablett has better players in his side to take votes off then swan does.
