"Bones" on Nova FM

Postby giffo » Wed Jan 17, 2007 8:34 pm

Bones was on Nova this morning (better late then neve)r discussing the SANFL decision to axe the mini league. Fitzy has suggested that they may start a petition. I hope that this gets off the ground and ALL SANFL supporters get behind it.

I'm actually not fussed, I'm looking forward to going out on the ground with my kids (and so are my kids) at half time of every game, it'll give me a chance to listen to the coaches at the 1/4 and 3/4 time break and still have a kick with the kids.

If Nova's running then no thanks what a bunch of twits. Bones the horse has bolted my friend should have done this back when it was announced. I like Wedgie's Idea it will give 3 times as many kids to get active at half time which is what needs to happen. Just get some childrens Marketing Guru on board at West Lakes to get the kids to the games. reduce the kids prices and give away free footys I dont know surely its not that hard

You should have seen the huge smile on my son's face tonight when I told him he could go on the grounds at half time for a kick this year. :D
There now will be more time and more room, a real plus for the kids (hundreds of them, not just 36 who might not even go to another SANFL game again).
Stick it up your arse Bones. :x

I saw him in Norwood the other morning, pushing a pram around with 2 little tackers in it & I must say that Bones is looking rather gaunt & frail. I wonder if all is well?

You can have a quick on the oval at quarter time and three quarter time, plus you can do it at any suburban match in the state.

You can now only play mini-league in front of a large audience (even if stuff all are watching) at the AFL.

All those memories, which form part of of the memories of us who still go to SANFL games, of playing mini-league will for another generation be off playing in front a crowd of Crows or Power supporters.

Keep the mini-league and have the best of both worlds I say.

we have all been blaming the SANFL for the decision to scrap the mini league

lets remember it was 8 out of 9 General Managers of the SANFL League Clubs that decided its fate

yes it lost a sponser but so what .......

Diabetes has knocked him around quite a fair bit, not to mention looking after twins!!

IM scared what he is going to look like when he is 70, or maybe he might get better with age!!

what a shame no wedgie or his son for the first round of the sanfl for a kick and catch, as elizabeth is a scarey place at night ,and with all the rubbish you have wrote over the last month about elizabeth maybe you should wait until round 2 for that kick and catch on the oval.

Agreed mate, my kids are petrified of the place and never want to go near it again, I am however negotiating with them to let me go with my mates but at this stage they're too scared of Daddy getting mugged and it looks like I might be missing my only game this century without being interestate or at a mates wedding.
Real shame too as North are undefeated under lights at Elizabeth.
BTW thanks to Central for keeping us at night at Elizabeth where we have the best record in the league. ;)

Yeah I did see it Phil, good work, looks like my son will get the double benefit of having a kick to kick at most grounds whilst still being eligible for the Panthers minileague. The Panthers guernsey doesn't worry him, he rates them as harmless, you wouldn't get a few other guernseys in the comp on him though!

mini league

Postby redden whites » Thu Jan 18, 2007 8:29 pm

Im with the wedgester on the mini-league issue. The league promotes the hell out of "come and have a kick on the oval"and the longest break of the day the kids can't.At best play the mini's across the ground ,half the poor little bastards don't get near the ball anyway.. i will admit though that during the finals last year the kids were older(11.12,13 maybe) and I thought watching the older ones who were there on merit was entertaining..but as for the current set up no worries here, I wont miss it in the slightest

I wrote on this subject in the Messenger during last year.

South will be doing the following

- Continuing to hold a mini league game between two schools in our zone at home matches to give kids that "wow" moment

- Reducing the size of the game (full oval too big for 12 year olds)

- Having public access in another part of the oval to allow kick and MARK (its not kick and catch surely for Aussie Rules).

For mine, its common sense and the best of both worlds.

The voice of reason.

Any idea what the other clubs are doing?
