19/01/76 WHERE WERE YOU ???

Anything!

Postby smac » Fri Jan 19, 2007 12:56 pm

20 days short of my second birthday, I was probably dropping a filthy, wet, stinking turd for Mum to clean up. Or getting kicked by my older brother for being in his way.

I was almost five at the time, and given that we lived in the North East and out of the fictional wave range, I guess there wasn't enough fuss made about it for me to remember. I do remember getting enrolled at Klemzig primary school however. This would have happened before school started in 1976, so there is a remote possibilty that I was in the office at Klemzig junior primary school while all you old bastards were out having fun waiting for the wave.

I reckon, way back then, as a 26 year old, I was driving a George Chapmans smallgoods van up through Gawler, Two Wells and Virginia.

Was working in the Commonwealth bank at the time. Couldn't get over the number of people (mainly pensioners) who took all their money out of the bank in the days leading up to the supposed tidal wave. They wanted it in cash as they believed all bank records would be lost.
