Nice line up Tractor. That would be like walking down the main street of Bagdad wearing a George W Bush t-shirt. The shit would hit the fan LOL.

But why would many people take an Aussie to the BDO? Telling people not to bring it will make them do it!

Its really only aimed at the Sydney audience as their BDO is usually on Australia Day, funny enough it’s not this year for the first time in a while. I have been to about 10 BDO's in Adelaide and can't remember seeing an Australian flag so I don't think it’s an issue for us. Why I don't go along with Wedgie's theory that they are not that bright because I think their record speaks for itself they should of perhaps slightly changed their media release. They should have just said all banners and flags are banned because they block the view of the stage and not mentioned any violence, that would have been the end of the story and the media wouldn’t have picked it up in what seems to be a slow news week.

My first was in 1995 and I haven't either.

Mind you, remember that our BDO isn't on Australia Day. Sydney's (usually) is.

I've been to all but two BDOs.
And have seen Aussie flags on various occasions.
The whole issue was really for Sydney.
For good and for bad - Ken West's brought it up and I'm sure we'll see a few more at this year's BDO.
However, now the BDO admin have made an issue of it, anyone that does wear them can expect to be watched closely by the security I'd reckon.

I think DB Magazine have summed it up well.

Beat Up Of The Week

Big Day Out's organisers have asked fans attending the Sydney show (on the eve of Australia Day) to keep their Australian flags at home, as it's now become "gang colours" at race riots. Fans understand what they mean. But the media uses the word "ban" and the RSL and various NSW politicians hysterically ask for a ban on BDO instead.

I do get it. I think those things are shite and anyone with that attitude needs to take a good look at themselves.

But...I questioned your point as I wanted to know what your post of that newspaper article contributes to this debate about the Australian flag.

I concede that not all Aussies wearing the flag around their necks at big events are Bogans. I also concede that not all Lebs agree with the sort of things being highlighted in those videos.

So...what is your point in posting that thread...

Its not "funny enough" at all, the organisers admitted moving it because of what happened last year.

You dont go along with my theory but you go on to suggest a better way they could have gone about it, sounds like you're agreeing with me then. As for their track record, a death and people being bullied because of the colour of their skin doesn't look like a great track record to me but I obviously value people's lives and right to attend an event without being hassled differently to others or have higher standards as to how a show be run.
But let's face it CA, I could say the sky was blue and you wouldn't agree with me.

No they weren't.
In Australia, once you are a resident of this country, you are an Australian - end of story and if you don't like the customs of a country you go to, you should never seek to take up residence of that country in the first place. Heaven knows, we'd last five minutes if we immigrated to some countries and told them that they couldn't do certain things because it offended our beliefs.
