And if you took out us and had Sturt playing this week, would you have got the 20,000 we had 10 years ago? Of course not. Everyone has got caught up in the Adelaide Oval love bug.

I don't think anyone knows yet.
They talked about it on the SANFL Show on 5aa but nobody had an official figure...one thought he'd heard it was 12100 and another thought he'd heard 13000ish![]()

For me my heart went out to the little Tiger in the front row near us who gallantly flew his Tigers flag all day until the end. Good onya little champ your day will come!

Eagles are a good September team
They have won thier fair share this millenuim
To be almost 5 goals down b4 you could say Jack Robinson and still win this final was a great effort

Likewise fish. I behaved just like him in 1982 v Centrals at Unley.
Seems like I've touched a few nerves with what was just a bit of sarcasim re a priceless piece of SANFL emotion...hmmm. If so I wholeheartedly apologise. Nothing against the little bloke.
The better team clearly won today. Eags or Legs for the flag....please...

time for us to make the tough decisions

M. MICKAN CANT COACH WHEN IT MATTERS
T. GRIMMA OVERATED HOW MANY GOALS AGAINST OTHER FINALISTS
R. KIRKBY HASNT PERFORMED ON THE BIG STAGE
M. RUWOLDT TRIES HARD BUT HAS NO TALENT

The only joy I take in the Bays losing comes after years of hearing certain Glenelg supporters slagging off Chambo and his efforts on the big stage ad nauseum - and then seeing Grima and to a lesser extent Kirkby / Ruwoldt go to jelly when it counted...LOL
But that Tape is a prospect...very impressive

Sturt was "taken out" this week, Centrals added, the crowd was 2,000 more, 13,162.
We have to remember the future Adelaide Oval will not be the boutique ground it once was. It will be a "transplanted" football park stadium. Maybe the crowds will be bigger due location, but I don't think the atmosphere will necessarily change.

wedgetail wrote:Total team effort by the Eags today. From presentations tonight-
Lewis (AC joint, no chance next week), Treeby (Ankle ligaments, no chance next week), Redden all clear to play, Hentschell, tight hamstrings, should be ok.
From the chairman's mouth, Broadbent and Salter ok to play at this stage.
Best - Almond, Powell, Jarrad, Parry (thanks Ron!)
Also thought Cicca, Rimington, Smith, Guifreda, Grieger, Rowntree were also terrific.
We can definately thank ron for Parry, he has been excellent, but we could probably thank him for Almond, Powell, Jarrad, Rimmo and Rowntree aswell.
Fantastic effort so far by the eags, attack on the footy and persistence to win the contest yesterday was excellent by everyone, as good as it has been for some time. Jarrad, Cica, Powell and McKenzie were just in front and first to the ball, and it drove us forward all day. We will rarely lose when those guys win their position.
I'll be the first to admit i was sceptical over the success we would have this year, but we've peaked at the right time of the year and are in a great position. Daniel and Goldsworthy should come in to replace the injured players, maybe even Stewart so hopefully they can add something against a solid Norwood midfield.
Full credit to Mick Godden, definately given the players a new sense of direction and confidence. Enjoying the new Eagles era, and hopefully there is still some more success this year.

Re: 1st Semi Final: Glenelg v Eagles Post Game Reviews
Great gutsy effort. Feels so good to finally win a final we weren't expected to. We simply had more desire than the Bays who I think thought things were back on track after the first few goals
Full marks to the coaching staff by not procrastinating and throwing Hentschel up forward early.
The last goal on quarter time was perhaps the most important of the day.
Great to see the small blokes like Cheep and Rimmington use their pace, be a bit niggly but keep their discipline.
Doubt there will be a problem with Hentschel. When Redden was being stretchered off he spent a while on the phone with the coach

That's because we all rate Chambo. The bloke is a champion. Try anything to put him off his game.

Last game for the Bays too unfortunately (unless the Crows or Power pick him up).
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

Unbelievable. There's a difference between enjoying a bit of schadenfreude, and simply being a dickhead.
Might have something to do with all the crap said about a young scoreboard attendant at Unley this year that seemed to be no problem to everyone else then. Short memories people!

Can Carr?
Will Carr be there next year ?I think not.
Reported? You sure?
Early in the 3rd 1/4 Carr and another Eagles player are wrestling, Cicca comes from 50m away and at full pace smashes into Carr's back
Yep Carr was reported check the replay .
Nothing in the paper about Carr being reported Micky? Are you sure?

Re: 1st Semi Final: Glenelg v Eagles Post Game Reviews
Wasn't sure to post this here or in the Mark Mickan thread, but one little incident seemed to sum up the Bays perfectly yesterday.
Second quarter, Eagles with the wind and making a charge. Rimmington set shot about 40mt out, edge of his distance, Bays player (Cranston I think) wanders straight the mark in his own little world - 25mts (admit it was a generous, probably 30mt penalty) and another goal.
Surely questions have to be raised that a player cannot be in tune with the game at such an important time in such an important game. Seemed to sum up the Bays attitude yesterday. Coaches fault, players fault? Disharmony amongst players or coach and players? Certainly looked like they weren't there for each other yesterday.
