1. I didn't know that re North Haven, Punk! Thanks! I'll add them to my visit list.

2. I don't collect the scores of the Amateurs lower than Division 7. I knew that Ovingham have been lower down, but I could have sworn they folded a couple of years ago. Oh well!

3. I forgot about the part Greek played in Camden's history!

4. Punk, do you know anything more detailed about the original Nunga? If I can link it all up to your line there - especially Kaurna who are a current club - that would also help.

5. I can confirm that Portland was a triple merger, and Riverside was definitely one of the clubs. But that merger was all within the SAAFL - with which I am having no problems (thanks to the book Scottroo referred to).

nope the other club was Ethelton Ive already had a guess at it

Portland was made up of Alberton Utd, Riverside and Ethelton ?????? I think

Thought about it a bit more and remember seeing the Ethelton Football club life memebers board before the merger

A correction from Footypedia.

Greek/Camden seperated into two seperate clubs in 1994 - and then Camden merged with PHOS. I think Greek were absorbed by Henley when they joined in 1996 after the SAFA folded.

Greeks went to Henley to become Henley Greek and this allowed Henley to enter into amatuer league and straight into Div 1 from SAFA, with Henley taking on the Greeks colours. PHOS went to Camden oval to merge with Camden to become PHOS Camden and play in the old PHOS colours.

Just bumping this up again. Hopefully I'll pick up a few people who didn't know about this thread that may have been away over the Christmas New Year period.

I was in Adelaide last weekend, and I'm finding that as I work back the coverage in the local papers in starting to improve. The North East Leader in Tea Tree Gully was covering TTG and Modbury games in the 70's (in the NNA comp), but unfortunately no ladders for 1976 and 1975.

As soon as the SAAFL release their programmes for 2007 I'm going to try and plan some trips. If anyone can recommend some good club possibilities (aside from the ones I've already checked - Mitcham, Colonel Light Gardens and Blackwood) I'd appreciate it. I heard that Modbury had got rid of a lot of their records - a stupid act if true. I'm keen on Adelaide Lutheran, and thanks to this thread also North Haven. I'm thinking Brighton as well in the Southern league.

IIRC, Adelaide Tigers were formed soon after...

IIRC - Kaurna United were playing at Elizabeth High School then.
The umpires were Kerley and Ballatyne (I was the friends with sons of both the umpires) and they were locked in the changerooms after the game. Pretty scary.

Adelaide Tigers were formed to play in the SAFA in 1992 or 1993. I don't think the side had any relation to Kaurna United and was formed a couple of years after that club was disbanded. However, the club did have some players from the northern suburbs.

I do recall playing a pre-season trial against Adelaide Tigers in 1995 (I was playing for Fitzroy, who went on to win th A3 Premiership that year)
