Good question. Was watching the GF with the bloke in charge of that choice and there may be options to alter the schedule to morning matches on Saturday or night matches on Friday, but the games will go ahead.

Mm, so lets get this right, we play the local lads, they average 5 or 6 and we have to be happy with that because there are no alternatives. Good theory, take the wooden spoon, but gee the culture is good. I think a reality check is in order, talent will come through and talent will get an opportunity very early, I think that is pretty evident in all grade clubs, the depth is not there, so anyone with talent will get opportunities and if they work hard enough, they will eventually prosper and be better for the experience.[

Struggle to see how that is truth when Gleleng have sturuggled in the 2 day comp over the 5 years,until last year, with a side full of club juniors! 2007/8 W.Stanborough and N.Schollar number 1 and 2 in the B grade comp medal, W.Stanborough couldnt get a game and won the medal by 20 votes as i recall!!!

If I remember right, Glenelg have not had an investment in the DLA, in fact I cannot remember anyone that has played for them. Weren't Glenelg 1 wicket away from a GF 4 years ago, only heroics from Kelly saved WT and ultimately gave them a premiership. HK, if I remember correctly you won a 1 day final the previous season and played in a 20/20 final a couple of seasons ago. You might have had some overseas players, Ellison, Donnelly, Panesar (half season), and stuff me you have Bailey & Edmondson this year. I re iterate talent will get opportunities and prosper, don't get this mixed up with those that think they have talent and should get an opportunity.

Yes,Glenelg made 2 20/20 finals and lost both by a reasonable margin against some pretty strong opposition!! Kelly heroics, yes he played well, but if you ask him, he knows a LBW decision changed that game, but hey thats cricket! Bailey and Edmondson are handy pick ups, but as Glenelgs results were last year, there were alot of guys playing B'Grade that got a chance and were up there in the clubs best performers of the year! As you saw Northern Districts had 2 or 3 guys come up into there A's in a semi and won them the match!
Depth is the key in district cricket and with the inclusions of Bailey and Edmondson,sounds like maybe you have already handed the points to Glenelg!!

Got this in an Email today......... Looks like the SACA are confident that this will still be able to draw spectators to Park 25.

SACA wishes to advise that after careful consideration of the clash with the AFL Grand Final, that all round one matches of the XXXX Gold Twenty20 Cup on Saturday 2 October will continue as scheduled.

This scheduling allows for a rare opportunity to showcase South Australia’s elite competition on the back of the West End Redbacks’s Airtel Champions League Twenty20 campaign in South Africa. This is a profile lifting weekend for Grade Cricket with twelve A Grade teams playing at the same place, at the same time on grounds that are arguably the best cricket wickets available so soon after winter. Spectator facilities (including televisions) are currently being arranged for football fans to still view the big match live from the MCG.

SACA appreciates that some of your members may be inconvenienced by this; however, the decision has been made with the best interests of the Grade Cricket competition in mind. SACA can assure clubs that all alternatives were considered before making this announcement.

Surely another home game, well organised will attract 500 spectators to a home club and again, done well, generate 5k in income for the club. My thoughts only. The players love 20/20 so I am told, let them love it on their home ground in front of a decent crowd with good atmosphere. Park 25 atmosphere will be like playing South Adelaide at Noarlunga.

A huge blunder by SACA and the losers will be the players, as their mates sit back enjoying a beer watching the AFL GF. Sunday Twilight 20-20 cricket would be a great money spinner for clubs, generating revenue for clubs.

Can't believe it ---- just saw the program and there's no proper games for the Colts throughout December (just Twenty/20's) and only one proper game for B, C, and D-Grade for the same reason. Pity help any kid trying to learn how to build an innings

just had a closer look and its even worse ----- colts have no proper games between November 27th and January 22nd, and they are both One-Dayers. They get no two-dayers between November 20th and January 29th !!! More than two months between two-Dayers

who knows...... But I think secretly DC is relieved that the pressure is not on his shoulders anymore and the coaching staff are hoping that a few sides are caught off guard when facing the Buffalo bowling attack.


Incorporating 20/20's into the premiership table is ridiculous, now requires a lot more luck to finish in the finals. I know from experience playing in the turf comp last year that this short form of the game has different dyanmics and can produce unexpected results. I played in my club's 2nd side which primarily was our B grade saturday team playing in A3. Against a Brighton A grade outfit we gave them a decent run for their money falling just short of their target.

This 20/20 business could end up deciding a sides season for better or worse.

Almost every A-Grader from season 2020 will be amongst them ---- nah C-H, not important at all ---- no point at all, worrying about their development

20/20 at a junior level seems to me to be only promoting big kids with a big bottom hand.

As a separate matter, when the seniors play their double header 20/20s the SACA is going to need their own liftout in the Sunday Mail
