Cosgrove batted 64 balls for his 19, including 3 boundaries. This means he made only 7 runs from the other 61 balls, something he needs to address ... as well as other issues. He needs to take more singles.

would that be KRAFT CHEESE SINGLES hawk

Well, I was thinking they should convince Cossie the man standing behind the stumps at the other end is a hot dog vendor, that would get him scampering through.

5/171 at stumps. Cameron 32, Deitz 7. An overall lead of 288.

I thought Jim Maxwell actually knew a little bit about cricket, but he just said on ABC radio that he thinks the Redbacks should declare overnight. Oh yeah, good call .. give the Vics 96 overs to make 288. Not very smart Jim.

It is a good move by Jim, why go through the motions and let this game end in a draw. The best thing for S.A cricket is a win, our best chance to do that is to declare and let Tait and Gillespie loose. Imagine the confidence a win would do for the young players in the side, could be the making of them. They need to be thrown into pressure situations. Apart from Hodge and Hussey, Victorias batting looks fragile.

I hear what you're saying, but 3 an over for 96 overs is not a big ask. A higher run rate would force the Vic batsmen to take more risks. Afterall, it's them who HAVE to win, not us. Also, that "fragile" batting line-up made 4/281 from only 92 overs in the 1st Innings and Hodge was still batting when they declared.

Cant declare yet, although anything is possible with the SA captains.
State selector David Kelly is over there he would not allow that nonsense.
Lead 288
DIETZ 7*
CAMERON 32*
ELLIOTT 3

Bat for 15 overs make 62 runs
Set VI 350 off 86 overs
VI have chased down targets very well all year, and they have Dynamite HUSSEY
Probably a draw

NS 5/540 DEC
TA 133
Ta will no doubt be asked to follow on and will bat better.
NS will win this outright and REB will be rejoicing

QL 139
WA 2/112
You would think WA should win this.

Why not have a go for the win, if we bat for 15 overs it probably will be a draw. We have nothing to lose were currently bottom
of the table. Let Tait put his name in front of the selectors by running through the Victorian line up with sheer pace and aggression, or young Bailey by spinning us to victory, or we could bat for 15 overs have a lead of say 355, give the Vics 80 overs to make them at 4.5 r.p.o. And we have a draw on our hands with boring no risk taking cricket and the Vics will finish up bout 4 - 233. Go all out for the win why not. :( :? :o :P  :D

SOOTERS Victoria will chase any total ALL the way if they have a chance.
If they lose to SA it wont matter we are bottom
Cant give them 288 of 96 overs
After TAIT and GILLESPIE we have this attack
R HARRIS yet to take p/c wickets
BAILEY emerging spinner but lacks experience in tight games
COSGROVE he bowls dunno why
D HARRIS is next
Very skinny attack indeed[well most of them ]
We had them 2/7 then 4/281 declared first dig.

BAT ON

BAT ON, What a joke, like i said after Hodge and Hussey the Vics batting is fragile. Yeah they will try and chase down anything, early wickets will be the key. Harwood bats at eight so they do have a long tail. Croshwaite has only the one first class 50 to his name. Klinger has never looked like a first class cricketer(good one - day player). Get Mash and Jewell early and its game on.

Sotters, do you honestly feel 288 from 96 overs is a good target to set? That's just an easy day's batting. The batsmen don't have to take any risks, just bat the day out and there's your 288. If elliott declares overnight I will have to assume he's still a Victorian.

KLINGER i reckon made a 100 last p/cup game
Against NSW they made 360 easily in the 4th dig
You might be right HARWOOD at 8 gives them a tiail
but if they are facing Danny HARRIS and COSGROVE ......
AH is right 288 is nearly a gift unless TAIT goes beserk
SOTTERS we did get MASH and JEWELL early + they got to 4/281 off about ***92*** overs

Out of the 281 first innings score Hodge and Hussey made 250 of them. Get them early were a good chance of winning. Everyones disapointed in the Redbacks season, here is a oppurtunity to have a red hot go for the win. Or we can bat on which will bring the draw into play. If we bat for 15 overs its Draw or a Vic win , I guess u guys have followed the Redbacks for to long and have become negative like the team. Why do u think the Vics declared today because they take a risk to give them a better chance of winning, even if it means losing. Thats why there on top of the ladder.

Stupid declaration by Hodge, could have been at least 100 up then declared and then chucked SA in tonight for a nasty 5-6 overs....by declaring behind it didnt put SA under pressure at all, mind you I would bet that Hodge and Elliott have a agreement for a declaration around the 320 mark

wont be a draw Mal...what have Victoria got to lose by chasing the runs even if 9 down with 100 to get???

Id take it!!!...not too worried as Vics will chase whatever they set...whats their worst result? giving 6 points to SA wont concern them

as I said I would be OK with losing the bet just to see a Redback victory!
