Here is a new site which gives full details of which banks have sent jobs overseas and what details of your private information are logged in overseas databases. Noteably the Bendigo is not on their list!

They are not supposed too! They pump profits back into local communities!

The Bendigo branch at Goodwood is two years old now and is about to make their first grant to local community projects now that they are profitable.

The branch at Robe however is going the worst of all in Australia, so I am not sure what they are planning to do to fix it, hopefully they will persavere and keep it going till it gets into a profit making situation.

There is the one at Robe and also one here in Adelaide that isnt making any $$$ therefore not fulfilling their promises to put $$$ back into the community...classic case of "sounded like a good idea at the time"

I dont understand what people issues is with this is it the privacy issue? you dont think the security will be the same as here in Aus? If its the jobs going OS I can understand that but its not even 1% of the workforce and we are at all time unemployment level?

And guess what everyone here would have a financial interest in these Banks via their Super Fund!!

and BTW Im a member of the union that runs that website...

I quit the Commonwealth Bank on principal in 1983
24 years later I can say I am finally proud of them.
They are donating $1,000 to cancer appeals for every 6 hit in the o/d games AU/NZ/EG.
They are over $50k so far.[thats putting $$$ into the community]

BUT the world needs a Bendigo Bank and the Nick Xenephons of the world
to keep the big boys honest.

I gave up banking with ANZ and other big banks over 10 years ago, I can not believe they can charge money for withdrawing my own money. Back to subject if my bank or Credit Union went os I would try else where.

Don't believe everything that little Johnny tells you.

In years gone by, if you were employed part time, and actively seeking work, you were still on the "unemployed statistics", now if you part time work, even if your earning less than the dole, you are "employed".
Technically the new determinations are correct (if you are working at all, you are employed), but someone trying to support a familly, and only employed 5 hrs a week and recieving benifits, is that really employed. these determinations of employed/unemployed have certainly put the comparison figures in Howard/Costello's favour compared to years gone by.

Bank SA is not on the list, would it be fair to assume that as they are owned by St George that the St George information would also be applicable to Bank SA.

For years I banked with the CO-OP building society, low (or no) fees, longer opening hours etc., then they became Adelaide bank, and rapidly they became just like the other banks. Instead of all acount holders being share holders and added charges being kept to a minimum, now they just want to make big bucks to keep the share holders happy. As a building society, they were still profitable.

What happened to the days of banks making their money from investing your money, and from interest on loans? That was when we could choose to use a bank, or just "hide the money under the bed", banks were trying to keep customers and their money with their institution. We were payed in cash, now we have to have our pay put into a finacial institution, they know we can't do without them, so if we don't have bucket loads of cash, they just take, take take.

I haven't been with a bank since I was a child and don't understand why people persist with them.

Yep I endorse S&L's and give kudos to those who work at Marion who always say hello to me and know me by name. They also sponser SANFL footy (kids area) so I encourage all loyal SANFL people to open an account. No fees on ATMs of there or other allied machines.

Because they have a greater capacity to offer deals to high worth clients (ie those with a truckload of debt!). They offered the best overall banking package for me, mrs smac and all the mini smacs - no fees at all and a 1.2% reduction on our home loan was far better than any credit union offered. I don't use branches so I couldn't give a continental what their service was like.
