They won their first pennant by 2 shots (I believe) - they actually played against one of our other safooty.net members :D

A youngst son and A Dad both have new bowls so they are trying to get used to them...lol.

What about you Steiger you guys started your season? O:)

Thanks for bringing that up steiger.

I played against 'A Son' last weekend (the first round) and after leading overall all day we got beaten on basically the last shot of the day. :(

Still - not a bad start for my team (Langhorne Creek) given this is our first crack at Div 1 bowls in about 7 or 8 years.

Hopefully we can keep the form going. :)

Sorry there Gingernuts - if I had known I wouldn't have said a thing  but I'm glad for A Son at least. Good luck for the year and especially after your promotion to Div 1.
I spose A Youngest and A Dad got the SR's. I bowl with Greenmaster Premiers and love em.
Yes we have had 2 saturday pennant matches already with our colour (Lincoln White) having 1w and 1l although we have enjoyed 2 rink wins
I rekn it was McLaren Vale (although it might have been the Flat) that we picked up anew bowler from last year - Brett Boston seems a bloody good bloke and not a bad bowler

The name doesn't ring a bell Steiger, but that's not to say he wasn't from our club..lol.

I see a few of 'your boys' or lincoln boys came over for the Country v Metro yesterday.
Unfortunately Country... well... didn't win.

A son played in the U18 section for country - Skipped the fours and managed to pull off a win over metro by 1 shot.
Nervewracking stuff - and everyone thought that metro would 'flog' them - so was a really enjoyable win !! lol.

Unfortunately the rest of the day for the country U18's wasn't so good - but when metro have the advantage of mostly state bowlers I suppose that's the way it goes O:)
Was good for the country U18's to make the trip and good experience and fun for them I would think,
They came from far and wide - Robe, Laura, Curramulka and Lenswood - and A son from McLaren Vale.

Was a good day great weather and Marion greens were awesome according to the bowlers O:)

Marions greens are always magnificent. The benefit of being financial enough to pay for a professional green keeper I guess. :?

Speaking of greens - Port Elliot was magnificent on the weekend. That carpet really is an amazing surface.

Our rink loved it and won comprehensively :D - pity our other rinks didn't and lost even more comprehensively. :(

Very pleasant, just a light sea breeze.

I had a 'day out' though, was in super form - so at the moment Port Elliot is an awesome place to bowl. :D

Ask me again after my next visit though - could be a different story.

Well done to A Son. You must be proud A Mum. I will watch for the results in January
By that time we will be counting the sleeps before we hit the big smoke for the Country carnival followed by Round Robin.
Had some fun in the Prestige Medley at Payneham last week. Personally happy with the bowls and the 4's I was in did ok but overall EP came 9th of 12 which was disappointing.
By gee the Payneham greens are looking a bit threadbare. All due to overuse they say. Neverthless I thought they bowled at a good pace and we in the 4's were lucky, seeming to dodge the worst of the barer patches.

Thanks Steiger O:)

I booked my ticket today to go and watch - so will be taking plenty of photos :D

Not sure of the positions make up at the moment (Playing singles, pairs, triples and fours) - they've gone with 2 'regulars' - 2 'newies' and my son who has represented the state once before. So a less experienced team, but will be good to get the depth behind them. They are all great bowlers at their given time, so hopefully they can all put it together at the same time.

Going to be very tiring and busy - as far as I'm aware - they fly out Tuesday and play Tuesday afternoon/night, Wednesday morning, Wednesday afternoon, Wednesday night, Thursday morning, Thursday afternoon - 3 'tests' one each against Queensland, NSW and Victoria.

Re the condition of the green you played on - people go 'crook' at our green keeper for not opening the greens on their demand, yet we get told that we have fantastic greens - so sounds like Payneham have had a bit of play.

Yes won't be long before those events sneak up on us for sure - might see you there...lol.

I'll be at the country carnival as well, only playing fours this year though.

Playing in the state under 35's in January also, is A Son playing A Mum? I'm looking forward to it, although I'll probably just end up being cannon fodder for the young guns around the place.

BTW A Mum - We beat Strath on the weekend by 1 shot overall on their home deck, very happy! Particulary considering we are second to bottom and they are top! Beating out cross town rivals is always a pleasure really. :D

LOL - yes that was a good win then :D

A Son has put his name in for U35's - needs all the experience he can get - so he's trying to enter all these events now O:)

Speaking of weekend cards/games..

This was our scoreboard on the weekend - all 3 rinks drawn!
Haven't come across anyone who's seen this before - yet..lol.

I know - and to make it worse - fancy standing in that heat that was Saturday - playing all those ends and having no 'actual' result
I mean I was whinging walking to the clothes line and back 8) - let alone walking up and down the bowling green all afternoon!!

I haven't come across anyone who's seen it before yet - Not sure but they might have something in the next bowler about it..lol.
