I dont think its like the AFL, SANFL clubs dont really have to submit lists by a certain date. They quite often recruit up until the June/July period as well i think.

No deadline, we lost Hueskes in about May or June last year and picked up Toia just before that.

Speaking of Toia, I wish him all the best in the West, he was probably the difference between winning a Reserves premiership instead of coming 3rd or 4th.

Agree, they dont really fianlise them per se but dont expect many clubs to recruit players much after april, you might get a few but all the good oens are picked up by then and you might get the odd country or ammos player added to the list.

Heuskes retired due to ankle problems, it's not like he got recruited to somewhere else.

Punky, I think the point Wedgie was trying to get across was that there was still players coming and going in May or June (how or why was irrelevant), so the "playing list" was not finalised until after that.

I'm sure GWW is right, there is no "AFL like" requirement to have playing lists finalised by a certain date

The point I was making tho, is that losing a player to a career ending injury can happen anywhere, anytime. Losing a player to transfer can take place up until June 30. So to answer everyone's question, in the SANFL it's June 30.
