  holy F**K!!!!!

Wasleys are a nice bunch of blokes. (Apart from their departed former captain Ponton)
Check out some of the bowling figures Old Man Hockey: 4/139 and McCarthy 2/223 here>>>
Its a sad day when teams get beaten by that much... definately playing out of their depth in Grade 4
With that... a slight deflection to the next topic!

I just hope they keep fielding 11 blokes each week regardless of the scores... No matter what their ability level is, just showing up week after week will show a lot of heart - something which gains more respect than being a great player

Agreed and your soo right! But will they continue to field a side each week? Would be so tough to get yourself up each week to be punished from pillar to post.

It must be really hard for the association to pick gradings but I have to say that the guys who played grade three against them last year called this early on here. The team last year was a grade five team with Ponton and with out him they belong in grade six or seven. They play with great spirit but are totally out of their depth in the two day competition. Its seriously not fair. I dont say this to detract from the westies boys, because you still have to take the wickets or make the runs but its not good for them or cricket.

what is happenin with some of the big teams in div 1??!! I see salisbury West battin line up fell apart in dramatic fashion only just managin to amass 200 in two innings, and one tree hill not even passin 100 in either innings. with some of the players clubs have picked up like Ozolins, Rogers and Cree to name a few on top of what were already two quality cricket sides you would think these 2 teams would stand up in a big way.

perhaps complacency? not taking things seriously? or is the gulf between the top 4 and the bottom 4 beginning to narrow?

Conditions have hardly suited the batsmen so far this season, the 3 players you named all played turf cricket last season, I'm sure they'll adjust before too long. It's early on in the season so I'd expect the cream to rise to the top over time.
I don't think there would be any complacency, I do think the gulf is beginning to narrow but there's plenty of talent around in the big 4 clubs, any team from the lower 4 ranked clubs that pinch wins from the big 4 are worth double.
Well done to Virginia, they would've been stoked, their on and off field demeanour against us was excellent.

i wouldnt attempt to put jim onto the clubrooms cos the end result would be me at the surgery getting another set of stitches  . just cant wear a lid n jims to quick for that but a more aggressive approach is guaranteed. on the other hand raed mite have a go, signature shot and hes got a great eye. personally i thought the atmosphere was good this week like it was against virginia (the way cricket should be played) and the young guys in our team will learn alot about grade 1 cricket. gotta learn to deal with the chirp n not be too sensitive.

ps. well batted catchit[/quote]

Yep I agree it was played in good spirit, the umpire was very thankful for that  Raed def has a good eye and we will have to pitch the ball up to him so he cant get under it, I thought if you got out we would have ripped through you guys, thats where a solid head was required and I am sure you will be more attacking next time around, unless you guy are 5 for 50 ;)

It seems the no ball rule for the short pitched delivery has even confused the umpires, after jim pushed the grill of raeds helmot against his nose, the umpire called no ball to only later say he stuffed it up.. getting to complicated for the umpires who should be concentrating on more if the batsmen is out or not..

Yeah, I couldn't wrap my head around what the new interpretation was, keep it simple, over the head (wide), anything else is game on. A good short ball is sometimes a bowlers only answer.

I wonder if this is a record for PDCA, 3 hat tricks in 1 round.

Good to see my old mate P Gent finally get a hat trick and on his birthday, a great day for him. Not the best he has bowled by all accounts.

Looks like the Source could get a call up to The Lodge's 1's after his fine batting in the 2's

Someone needs to replace Browny

Also congrats to Groover on his first ton for the club - took him 2 games - Browny still waiting to get his name on the bat 8)

Shannon Jackson took one for OTH against Atco in div 2. he had the wind behind him, he was fired up and bowling quick. but the special thing about his hattrick was that they were all bowled. this must be a rare thing, as hattricks dont come along too often as it is. it was the first hattrick ive had the pleasure to witness...... has anyone seen a hattrick all bowled out?

Obviously the weather has not been great this season, but batsmen get the same deck every week on concrete!! I think the wet conditions hamper the bowlers more by having to run in on wet grass and bowling with a slippery ball!
There once was a bloke named Fracka,
Scored runs since he was a young tacka,
But alas not anymore,
his shot selection's been poor,
and now they call him QUACKA!!
