Do you know your footy club?

Postby Rushby Hinds » Tue Feb 06, 2007 10:59 am

Question 1.

How much notice does your club require (as per the constitution) to enable you to table something at the AGM?

Question 2.

How much notice does the Constitution state that your club must give to call an AGM?

Love a volunteer from each club to answer this one...

West Adelaide's constitution requires the AGM to be held by December 15th. The Annual Report has to be posted to members at least 7 days before. As far as I can see, any business may be transacted at the AGM without notice.

Any business, however, that changes the constitution has to be carried by 60% of the members voting and at least 21 days notice needs to be given.

There are other rules relating to Special eetings.

None, things can be raised during the AGM with no prior notice at North.

It has to be made public ie advertised in the paper for 2 consecutive days at least 14 days before the AGM but most clubs do it about a month out.
The constitution was also changed last time as to the timing of it to make it easier to give a full financial report but you didn't ask about that so I wont go into detail.

Also special meetings of members require something like 16-30 days notice with at least 50 signatures of members or something like that, but I digress as you weren't asking about that either, we looked into organising one when the club was trying to merge with Sturt but that was a long time ago and my memory ain't that good!

Wedgie - surely your constitution must specify the process? The SANFL has a 'template' constitution which has been rolled out to clubs and there is a direct reference in there at about clause 17.

It may be that the roosters are willing to discuss anything at the AGM but if it was a particularly sticky matter no doubt someone would be reaching for the paperwork to find a reason not to respond to the issue raised.
