it is, but with the infectious (in more ways than one) WW at the helm & with Moose impersonations (as a spin off too the 12th man thing done on Warnie). I can see this show going a long way! Provided it's placed in an m rated timeslot.

ROUND 8 TIPS

NA FIANNA 1-5 v FLINDERS....God willing!
ST BRENDANS 6-10 v IRISH.....Saints coming off their best win of the year may have found their stride
PORT 1-5 v MITCHAM......Port to break the duck for their first win, just.
Game of the Round
ONKAS 6-10 v WESTERN IRELAND.....Goats will be hurting having dropped the points last week in a game that form dictated they should have won. Onkas are going from strength to strength. All indications are that this will be a cracker. The goats may actually hold the advantage in the point kicking ability in general field play but Onkas have A.MAC with the ability to caress the ball over from 60m out. They also have the best half forward in the comp in Danny Boy and if they were able to put 4 goals past the premier goalkeeper in this state ;) last week then they are going to be very hard to stop. The aerial matchup between Jumping Joey Peddler and Marty Mac will also be very interesting. Onkas to go to the Xmas break undefeated after what is hopefully an absolute corker.

disappointing for mitcham to only have 12 players, and another new goalie for 1 week!!! played well through the first half to only be down by a couple of points, all be it with the wind. flinders ran all over us in the second half. they are a very skilled team, a good mix of irish boys, soccer players and bigger bodies. #21 killed us through the middle. flinders still love to argue amongst themselves which is always amusing.

I dont recall any arguments between our players?

maybe you werent in the areas i was in when it was occuring, few players getting annoyed with not passing the ball to teamates in better positions from what i was hearing..nothing massive just a little observation..

flinders 6-10 - with the fins struggling for numberslast week, and more importantly flinders running into some good form. After playing flinders last week they were very impressive and i feel they will be too good.
saints 11-15 - great win last week and ran the ball very well, much to strong for the improved IA
mitcham 1-5 - hawks to go into the xmas break with a win, showed good signs early last week and with better numbers hopefully the results will come
onkas 1-5 - should be a great game, expecting WI to be much better than they were last week

Is anyone else's team being decimated by the Ashes Test being in Adelaide this weekend?! Taints had to have a player miss out last week (due to only playing 13aside) but we will certainly be a little light on this week!

Tho I hear that Irish Australians will be missing Matt Doecke as he has been drafted into the Aussies Ashes Squad to face the poms...

CT, we are trying to avoid being decimated by the test. So to get the Na Fi boys out to the game i will reveal that the test will result in a draw, hence no need for the boys to head down to the oval!

Na Fianna 1-5 over Flinders O'Niells
Saint Brendans 6-10 over Irish
Mitcham 1-5 over Port - Port have burnt me the last two weeks.. Mitcham looked pretty good at times against a good opposition. I also must give props to Mitchams goalkeeper last wknd representing the Nike Air's!!!
Onka's 1-5 over Western Ireland

Saints to beat irish 11-15
Mitcham to beat port 1-5
onkas to beat goats 6-10
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Round 2 of Gaelic Social 7,s

St.Brendans 5.24-39 def Steve Irwins 3.7-16
Best St.B - Ben10, Milsy + Bevo with Zues hilarious in goals
S.I.A - Jamesy P, Rhino and The New Guy

Onkas def Flinders via forfeit 20-0.
Very dissapointing to think the FON squad of 40 couldnt get 6 or 7 blokes together for the Round 2 7.45 game.

Angry Leps 5.27-42 def Rosewater Dingos 1.5-8
Best Angrys - Tommy G, Chris Carey, Milko Bryant and Soxy
Dingos - Big ups to Kang for his clubs first goal, Froggy threw himself in kneedeep and Big Zues was solid.

Another great night at the 7,s with some exciting Gaelic played mixed with plenty of sh*ts and giggles. The brains trust of Merv Zaluski and Gerry Javor are looking to expand the season from 7 weeks to 12 so each team can play other teams twice and because the comp is running so smoothly and being played in the right spirit. We have decided that players within reason are able to play for more than one team in the minor round to avoid forfeits and help the new teams and teams struggling with numbers. This should ideally prevent any further forfeits. Zues can confirm but at this stage i believe we are running for at least another 2 weeks before Xmas with an earlier start date than anticipated.
If you would like to try Gaelic or know of someone who is keen then Gaelic 7,s is the ideal environment to try it out without the pressure and stress of a State league game whilst still competing with a lot of the states best players and an ecclectic assortment of new and interesting ones.

With every team having played each other once and due to the fact i have seen each team play at least 3 times its that time of the year again to pick my team of the first half of the year.
1 have only picked a starting 15 and have made it up of 3 players from the top and undefeated team (Onkas). 2 players from the 2nd to 6th placed teams and 1 player from the 7th and 8th placed teams.
To name a team like this i have been forced to name a couple of players slightly out of their main positions.
Let the debate begin....

FULL FORWARDS ; Willow-WI, Backy-St.B, Danny-O
HALF FORWARDS ; JPeg-St.B, Nick Wark-IA, Decklan-F
MIDFIELD ; JoeyPed-O, Haughey-F
HALF BACKS ; Toasty-P, Daices-IA, Ready-N
BACKS ; TommyG-M, MattyHill-N, JFlo-WI
GOALS ; Jamie-O

There is probably 10 guys who would consider themselves very unlucky not to be selected (myself clearly included) so there is your 10 man bench. Any glaring ommisions or suprise inclusions people???? Please contribute as your opinions are considered during the selection process for the actual Team of the Year!

No coach of the year so far Wristy? Umpire of the year even?

A pretty poor effort by Flinders last night to not even be able to get 7 blokes together and have to forfeit. Very disappointing especially for all the time and effort that has gone into getting this years 7 a side comp up and going. Very disappointing :( - This is the first time i have used a 'smilie', that's how disappointing it is. Could i use the word disappointing any more?

We are more then happy for the 7's season to run longer as 5 games are not enough.

even though we got belted again we left happy after Khangs goal and thanke to all for the advice we are getting especially the opposition who gave Khang some advice during the game just before he scored his goal.

It certianly doesnt hurt for the state league teams to stay somewhat involved in the 7 a side as there are some very handy players that could certainly do a job in the more demanding 15 a side.

For St brendans we were lucky enough to grab Bevo and Baccy from their 7 a side team last year (RIP Surps GFC) and they played an integral part in our Hannigan cup win.

Last night there was a lad for the opposition who looked pretty handy and i reckon could walk into the starting 15 of any eam in the state league.

Well said BB =D> . Hopefully wont happen again now we are allowing players to interchange teams in the minor round. A lot of blokes would also be keen for more than one game in Jan no doubt when pre-season fitness starts to take shape. Your wisdom is reflected in you leading all other Gaelic tippers \:D/ .
As for coach of the year there are 2/3 standouts for me at this stage. Onkas at 6 and zip being ably led by Gave Phillips and Mike Whitman look a big chance to take the chocolates this year. The other nominee without attempting any Matt Doecke humour :o would be the IA coach as the perrenial under achievers sit 3 and 4 and within striking distance of their first finals birth in years. Probably have Daics in front by a whisker as Onkas have a talent pool the envy of the comp.
As for the umpiring, thats not for me too decide. Many different opinions on this one. Personally i enjoy Zueses play on,play on, play on style. I thought Chewbacca Janetskis first up game was solid and i believe Tommy G always calls it right down the middle. Antos always good but i havent seen him ref yet although i know he did do possibly his first game on the weekend. Overall i think the standard has lifted and i have only seen one game poorly officiated this year but the ref admitted he had a stinker so tuff titty said the kitty. Refs have bad days too. My opinion is probably Tommy G is my fav ref as he is fair, clear and consistent. Perhaps im biased because of our friendship but either way surely he couldnt be ref of the year if hes corner back  Mick Emmet did say to me that the best ref he has seen this year was Kenny Fay and hes a good judge however i have heard this statement directly contradicted depending on the point of view. In summary. I dont know re the refs and there is no ref of the year award anyway so that was a solid waste of 10 minutes. :)
