Micko last played for Morialta about 10yrs ago I reckon mate. He got hitched and started pumping out a few kids. He was the Bar Manager at the Tower Hotel up until about 2003/04 and I heard a whisper he either bought or bought into the Western Hotel in Pt Augusta and headed up there. Haven't heard from Micko for years, but was a more than handy cricketer. Reasonably slippery off a few paces and could hit a big ball too. One year for Metho's he hit two tons - one was 150 and the other 165, and you can guarantee there wasn't many 1's or 2's in those scores. A man of your own heart Smasha! ;)

My fondest memory of Micko (apart from sharing a few flags with him at PV and many legless nights in the City.. ) was the 94/95 Carnival in Royal Park, Melbourne. He virtually won us the game against Western Suburbs (SA got up by 7 runs) when he took a one hander, running full-pelt back towards the boundary from mid-off from the bowling of the great man, S.Morris. Still sends shivers down my spine recalling the moment and the feeling in the huddle when we all finally caught up with him.. ;)

Yep...pushed them through at times for sure. And he definitely hit a long ball. Very handy all rounder.

Who was the big fella that played at Plympton around that time ? Bowled with good wheels but man, anyone would've thought he was Brett Lee the way they talked him up.

Trying to remember who they had playing for them back then. Ol' Rossco (Ross) Hill used to open the bowling with a left-armer called Ray Johns around that time. I think Snowy (Grantley) Day was a bit before your time mate, but he bowled medium innies. Good competitor. Can't ever remember facing anyone else who sent them down for Plympton with any semblance of pace..? :-k

Div 1 is a runaway between the two top teams, though they have been proven to be beatable as witnessed last round. Rose Parks, Lutherans and Fitzies fighting it out for the top four. Season has been notable for some big runs so far, with dave loshel, smasha, jon smith, hoddo, and cougar all making a shipload. I can see the top run getter needing 500 to win the batting trophy this year. As for bowling, well bowlers are idiots, batting is where its at.

Now for the half way awards. Most handsome player is me again, sorry lads. Biggest bastard act so far is Vi$ta screwing us over by losing to lutherans whilst we do them a favour and beat NEK. Best action moment was Pidge bowling hutchy...ahem i mean richie. Most emotional moment was Auto finally getting a well deserved bowl after striving in the shadows of lesser bowlers for fifteen years. Most fulfilling moment of the season was versus Vi$ta at tea when we had pizzas, cake, lollies, sausages, doughnuts and chips. Most erotic moment was......ill let hutchy talk about that. And finally the iron stomach award goes to Tommy K for his ability to gulp down 3L of hot iced coffee and keep it down.

Still think it should be an association by-law that you can not have a BBQ cooking while the game is in progress. Sitting there padded up while BBQ kicked in was cruel and inhuman.

As for a drink post game Auto , Spintwin and myself and a few others had intended to but when we finished early thought it best to head to our B grade game. We arrived just in time to see the last couple of wickets. Our motivation was to get Pidge to state on this forum something along the lines of ‘ I had a drink with the Vi$ta boys and they seem like a good bunch of blokes. Every other club has felt the love but Vi$ta.......Ok he would have to lie but still......

Churches & Community Cricket Association - A Grade

Para Vista - 45.77
NEK - 43.27
Lutheran - 34.73
Rose Park - 30.51
--------------------
Fitzroy - 30.44
Ross Smith - 13.79

IMO, the top two spots will still be decided by Para Vista and NEK. Although, with both of them losing their last game it proves anyone can beat anyone on their day. Fitzroy play Lutheran twice before the end of the season. Those two games should decide 3rd and 4th positions. Rose Park are also going pretty well at the moment, although their only wins soo far have been against Ross Smith. They are still a good team and it wouldn't surprise me if they snuck into the finals.

Auto is on fire with the ball. Currently in 68th place out of 69 bowlers.

Reggie.. I already know that the Vi$ta boys are good blokes.. :?

If the bloke from PDCA name is Justin Carman, i played district cricket with him at Tea Tree Gully. He is a gun bowler, very good pace and some good outswing. Played a few XXXX Gold matches for the gullies aswell. And he is only 20.

Questions to all forum users.

How do we revive our comp.

I believe if we stay with the current format the association will
disappear within 5 years. There are only limited Clubs bringing juniors
through the ranks. I believe we need to make a change to One-day Cricket
and T20 cricket before it is to late.I think we need to have a proposal
to the Association before we finish playing cricket this year. We need
all Club delegates to go to all players and see what we can do to keep
these players and to Entice more players to out great Association.

More and more clubs are playing with older list now we need to turn this
around.I believe If we can do a mix of One-day and T20 games you will
keep more players and i think we can market it to players outside our
Association.

The one off division of one day cricket did not work. Several Div1 clubs were of the view although there is strong interest in a one day ( or even 20/20 comp) if they were to nominate a team they would lose the core of their Div1 team- it would just dilute the completion to have separate competitions.
So any move made needs to be a move as a competition across all.

Please post some feedback positive or negative(Rock-star/George)

Regards
Spin Twin(These are my personal views only)
