One of the best days of cricket Ive seen
Real cricket on a wicket that gave batters and bowlers a chance[like the Gabba early]
EG all but had AU out of the ashes at 5/69
Mike Hussey did it again, Mr Snicket is back to being Mr Cricket
That magnificent batting keeper who is gILchristESQUE in Ashes games, took em on and got AU going
Then some of our bowlers [or allrounders after this dig] batted splendidly
268 is not a big score , but it could well have been 134, and the ashes beyond reach

61 MR CRICKET, been lucky early in his digs this series, but taken advantage
53[80] The 2nd best batting keeper AU has ever had, and the best batting keeper vrs England of all time[so far]
62 [93] MJ , as Freddy used to sing, ''under presssure'' and quietened his most ardent critics for at least 24 hours
35*[59] SIDDLE , not blessed with any great batting ability, but one thing we know about this man is that its 100% effort
13 [12] HILFENHAUS, perhaps the best batting number 11 in world cricket

EG must be bouyant getting Watson out for what I reckon is his lowest ever Ashes score of 13

3/61 ANDO I thought he would struggle this tour, but he just impresses me thesedays, and he is destroying PONTING
3/63 TREMLETT , looked dangerous on this deck

The one worry with EG is that with only 4 bowlers they are gunna let sides off the hook,in Adelaide and Perth they had AU gone, and should have nailed AU for 150 or below

Its a disgrace when siddle looks technically better than our number 4 and 6 batters.

I would open with Rhino Harris and MJ this morning
They are the 2 explosive bowlers, and the most capable of getting 2-3 wickets in a spell
But then again with 4 fast bowlers Ponting might be concerned about the over rate
There4 I conlude that it would be no surprise if Smith and Clarke get first crack atem this morning

150+ Test matches, why would you think he will start to worry about over rates now?

Deplorable that we rarely see 90 overs in a day.

The worst selection has been that of Smith. We want a batsmen at 6, an out and out batsmen. Not an exciting allrounder who has done nothing to earn his spot. Someone said poor mans Cam White, SPOT ON!!!! How many tons has Smith made this year compared to Khawaja, Ferg and White, I'd be interested....
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

Im not a fan of the Smith selection, but Hughes shocked me as well, the bloke has done NOTHING this season and to be honest at test level i've always thought he looks bit hit or miss.

North made 2 today so going on the selectors current form he must be a shoe-in for boxing day

Agreed. Absolutely staggering. If Smith's playing at 6, he's in as a pure batsman. Is he good enough to play as a prue bat yet? No freakin' way. So is he in to bowl a bit of spin? If so, either play him at 8 or kick him out and pick Beer, stop weakening the bowling and batting line-ups. Play a specialist bat at 6, preferrably Ponting and have Usman bat at 3. HOW HARD IS IT?!

Early edge from strauss straight between keeper and 1st slip.....FFS! I think the biggest advantage england have is their ability to take chances when given them...

Thank you!

I said Smith was Cam White minus the experience. I am astounded we haven't called upon White to play in the middle order after his ton against them in Hobart earlier in the year in a match where Tremlett in particular excelled.

I'm not sold on Ferg and unfortunately Khawaja appears to have lost a little form despite his ton in the Tool cup recently. As for Hughes, he played across one yesterday which was a strange decision when a regular test spot appears to be his for the taking.

We need some openers to stand up because I reckon Watto should bat at three.
