Constructive post only then? It will be hard but i will do my best.

Yes,

But if i had a bad day every week, i would be dropped. As should the umpires.

But has the Assoc got enough umpires to make that work?

Yes.

If they don't then they have to get out and find them... how many people have seen a flyer to get join the umpires panel?

I never have seen one, and i wouldn't even know how to get into it if i wanted to do it! If more people were aware of the need for them, maybe they would find more umpires. Its worth a shot. Whats the harm in chucking up a couple of flyers at every PDCA club?

Get on it while you can!! Next year you are going to get carved up.

What grade do you think we will be in Gunnerson?

Do you think we will get carved up in B2 or something similar?

I think the lodge will go well in ATCA, imagine you will prob start around A3? Whole different comp and looking over their A grade side they certainly have the potential to be good IMO. No doubt will pick up a few players as well at the end of the season.

End of the day i guess only time will tell..

$90 for a few hours work should be pretty inviting, clubs are paying decent coin each week so they deserve satisfactory umpiring, mistakes will be made still but there needs to be a line in the sand for what is acceptable.

To have someone in this comp (and grade) that in no better words, is a complete waste of space is frustrating.

Lets do something about it.

What is the point in coming out every week and playing in the top grade of PDCA to have a guy that cant see less than 30cm from his face without taking his sunglasses off.

On the weekend we were VERY lucky not to have about 3 or 4 LBW's against us, and we had a run out (my fault :p) given not out when fanta was about 1 meter out... and i was down the other end and saw it clearly, Merlin was less than a meter from it.

What can we do? Ill get every persons signature that plays over the rest of the season and put it forward to the PDCA committee, I don't care!

I also heard there was a ball bowled off the pitch on the grass that wasnt called a no ball, he said it was passed the crease line when it hit the grass :?

How can you say that when you dont know what grade(s) we will be in?

Fair point! I have seen you guys twice this year and believe that if you go into B grade you will struggle to bowl sides out, also if Jamie doesnt make runs you will struggle with the bat, have you guys reguested any grades? C1 pops to mind?

Jamie who??

Which games have you seen this year?

His first excuse was that the Batter covered it by walking over to where it pitched, and therefore not being a wide... when we asked why it wasn't a no ball off the pitch.... he then said that it bounced after the crease. The ball was a half volley.

There once was a bloke named Fracka,
Scored runs since he was a young tacka,
But alas not anymore,
his shot selection's been poor,
and now they call him QUACKA!!

Talk to few ex-umpires on the odd occasion, the money is not the issue, more so the lack of respect shown them by a minority of players which takes the enjoyment out of the job.
Get that out of the game and recruiting umpires would not be a problem.

Every umpire we've had in the past four years has come in for a beer after the game except for one, not one of them has had to pay for a beer either I might add. Alf always buys a jug on his way out too. Respect is always there to begin with for an umpire, it's only them that can be stripped of it though.

good point.. i am one of those people that sometimes make the job hard for the umpires.. its hard because no one goes out there to make mistakes, but not knowing the rules or blatantly missing something because you are getting older are the two main problems.

Questioning the umpire isn't good at any time, we know that, but when guys are doing it week in week out then they deserve to be told that they are getting it wrong.

Doesn't bother me playing second fiddle from time to time. Gunnerson has some good points though. Just because no one from OTH agrees with him, why is he wrong? I agree that the boys from up the hill tend to be a bit precious, and OKC who cares what you did last year, it's what your not doing now that's important.
