Good point there JQ! maybe a feeder club would get more young cricketers playing in the hills. Although i cant think of many that have left the hills (A&EH in particular) to play either at a district club or a leauge that feeds one. Peter Wilson has left and is playing at sturt and Matt abbott Spend last season at the stingrays, but other than a few lads (barratt, hein etc) playing 16's down there, not alot have been drawn to that.

I think it really comes down to young blokes being mroe interested in sinking piss all weekend long and not having to spend saturdays in the field. Most of my mates that dont play either say they want to party all weekend, its to boring or that they want the summer off after foot.

What ever happened to playing hung over, or if in a lower grade, while still drinking!

Heard that a meeting during the week between officials of the A&EHCA, Lobethal & Woodside were very Positive in reguards to Lobethals' and Woodsides' defection from Torrens Valley C.A. to A&EHCA next season.

Would be a nice thing having an 8 team A grade, i dont know to much about the standard of cricket in the TV league, do you have any idea how they would measure up in the A&EH?

Err, Ummm, Err, Last time i checked, A&EHCA DID have an 8 team 'A' comp this year.
Would think Woodside & Lobethal would handle 'A' grade pretty comfortably in A&EHCA without knowing much about them.

I played on Happy Valley's 'pitch' on the weekend and even after all the warnings from teammates and having played there a few years back, **** me! That thing is a disgrace! Bounced and darted all over the joint! I love turf but for a hard wicket comp to have 'matting' like that is a joke. Anyone else 'batted' on it?

I am aware that 8 teams play in the A grade, but it would be good to have a bit more competition to be in the A grade, with those two clubs possibly coming in it may provide that challenge. Good on Barker and Ashbourne for coming up and playing at the top grade in A&EH, but it was more so due to the lack of teams in the "A1" than them being at a compeditave level for it. And while Mt Barker have some good youth in there side and a possability of developing as an A grade side, unfortunatly Ashbourne are a little different. Sorry JJ, ill make sure i explain myself more next time

They would handle themselves very comfortably in A&EH. By looking at Courier cup matches over the years i think you would find that both Loby and Woodside would of dominated these matches against A&EH sides.

Looks like the Association most likely to fold is in the Meyer Shield Final again. Torrens Valley defeated KI then Southern to advance to the Oz Day Final against Murray Towns who accounted for Hills then A&EH. Might be TV's swansong if the speculation of Woodside and Lobethal's departure to rival leagues eventuates.

I thought you may wander back into this thread given the weekend’s results. Perfect opportunity to stir up those HCA lads I would have thought ;)

In all seriousness though a good result for the comp. No idea yet on who performed well etc.

I heard that due to a balls up by the guys on the book at the Inv. V's Hills match on sunday, the inv. team won, after being well and truely smashed by the hills boys. Inv. batted first and the run chase was made easy by the ried brothers, but the guys on the book left the sundries off the score and by the time they realise the were actualy a few runs short both teams had left!

Any truth to the rumour that big Nick Johns may miss the final of the Myer shield i have heard that he has either rossriver virus or a huge hangover. Surely the big fella can get up to play because he doesn't get many opportunities to play in grand finals because he plays for Woodside.

Another Meyer Shield for Torrens Valley. Batted first made 135 and bowled out Murray Towns for 87.
