So it looks like no refunds from Sportsbet then, so if a jock doesnt even ride - no refund? All-in, Am I reading that right?

I am not a huge Sportsbet fan in the jockey challenges? do they do them 7 days a week yet? Sure I will look at them on a Sat or Wed but at no other time do I look them up.

Any other sites have rules that you can post. Lets get serious about this and start making some decent money.

They do most days now mate, but are still pretty unreliable for non-metro meets .. Today they did Mackay and Warnambool, and yesterday they did a couple but generally Mondays they dont have a market at all.

Very hit and miss mate.

Thats what I thought CP thanks. Unreliable. So they will not get much of my business.

Looks like Centrebet are ''all in' too then mickey. Have they all changed recently to this? maybe its a thing across the board Aus wide. So this means even if your jock pulls out and does not have a ride you lose your money cold.

I guess it makes sense to have 1 rule Aust wide, are sportingbet the same? What about the TAB. Sorry to be a pain, just doing my homework for my return

They are also slow with their markets too mate, today is a good example .. We're 45 minutes away from the first at Strath and there's no market for it, and noone would know for sure whether there will be or not. Also no market up for Sandown yet (although no doubt that will come).

I think they once told me that they basically use the other bookies for their JC's .. The impression the Sportsbet bloke left me with was that they offer the JC's more to keep regular customers happy than as a decent money-spinner (my impression could be wrong, Im not that familiar with the world of bookies).

Here is the replies I got from all the agencies:

It was after D Simmons has pulled out and no refunds were given as apparently he pulled out after the second race.

This from UNITAB

In response to your email regarding Thursday’s Jockey Challenge at Rockhampton, all bets placed on David Simmons were losing bets.

The original market was posted including David Simmons based on the rides he was intended to take part in. As soon as it became known that he would not take part in the race, betting on David Simmons was closed.

I would advise that according to our Queensland Wagering Rule, bets on a Jockey Challenge fall under the All-In rule meaning no refunds. Please refer to the Wagering Rule 1999, Part 3, 15B(2) which sets out the rule for ‘Refund of investment – fixed odds – jockeys’ challenge.

I have also spoken to the Bookmakers who manage the Jockey Challenge and they confirm the All-in nature of this event.

This from TABCorp – NSW/VIC

Please see the extract below for information regarding Jockey Challenge scratchings. Basically, all Jockey Challenge bets are All-In and wagers on jockeys who are originally listed but are replaced on any rides stand.

10.1.5.2 Prior to commencement of betting, wagering operators will prepare a list of jockeys and opening prices. The list will include an “any other” price option to cover any jockey who is not included in the original list. At all times the “any other” option shall be treated as one entity.

Points will only be allocated to the jockey(s) who actually ride the winning or placed horse(s) in a race. Points will not be allocated to any rider who may have been engaged to ride a horse but was subsequently replaced by permission or direction of the Stewards.

There will be no refunds of bets should a jockey be replaced by another rider.

You can view the full Betting Rules applicable to Jockey Challenge markets in the link below:

Answer Title: TAB Sportsbet (VIC) Betting Rules

This from Sportingbet

Thank-you for your email, you are correct we consider this a non starter and all jockey challenge bets are refunded and a new market created without the withdrawn jockey in there and bets are required to be placed again on the new market.

This from Sportsbet
Jockey Challenge wagers are available on selected meetings. Win Only bets are accepted on an all-in basis. The winning jockey is decided on a 3, 2, 1 points scoring system.
As the rule states, it is all in betting BUT if you happen to back a Jockey and he does not ride, best thing to do is ring and we will most likely refund your bet.

This from Centrebet

We refund all bets on the jockey challenge if the meeting is abandoned and there is no clear winner. For example, If a meeting is abandoned after the first race then all bets are refunded. But if the meeting is abandoned with only 1 or 2 races left in the meeting and there is a clear cut winner several points ahead that cannot be beaten then all bets will stand.

So just to clarify, if the meeting is abandoned half way through and there is no clear cut winner ( meaning that if he didn't place for the rest of the meeting he would still win ) the all bets are voided and refunded.

The Simmons reference was from a long time ago. The emails date back to March 2010.

Sandown is a complete raffle today .. I don't mind Payne as my top pick, and AOJ and Williams hold some appeal too.

Surely Brown is the only one with any chance of toppling Rawiller.

Rawiller looks very hard to beat & I won't be backing against him.
