OTH chasing 160 odd for victory against Smithfield.

After 45 overs the score was 2/66... kid that bats no 9 for them opened and hung around for ever until starting to play some shots after tea, ended up on 60 odd and batted pretty well.

we are 0/0 from 1 over.

Played against S.West in grade 5 yesterday and must say that the captain and the older fella that batted at 3 are both complete W**K**S on the field! dont know either of them off the field and have heard they are both ok blokes - but white line fever must get the better of them coz there were 2 or 3 incidents during play yesterday where both of them acted like 3 year old girls. was an absolute joke and a shame for S.W as the other 9 players seem like a great bunch of blokes! Dont know how a club chooses a bloke to captain when his own team mates were bagging him out and saying how much of a tool he is

All in all , would of been good to play on adelaide oval, well done on just getting to play there , not an easy feat , i think we finished up in the qtrs last year against goodwood , pete gladigau (sorry on the spelling) was the difference on that day. Again congrats to SW for making it

Pfft. 9 other blokes playing for Salisbury West thought you blokes were a bunch of sooks who didn't realise a bloke can't be out if the ball pitches outside leg. Then your wicketkeeper gets into an argument with square leg umpire because the keeper was adamant "if the catch was dropped it would have to have been given out" when the catch was taken. And you think the square leg umpire was acting like a 3 year old? The point was moot and NOT going to be given out if the catch wasn't taken so why did he walk over to square leg to continue the conversation? White line fever affects OTH players too apparently. But I bet you're going to tell us all how you can see where a ball from a right arm bowler pitches in relation to a left hand batsman from mid off

You got the wickets you deserved, and nothing more. Deal with it.

shows how much you know mate... all i said to the young batsman was be careful if you say "drop it" while a fielder is trying to take a catch... and i said to him "just so that you know for when you are playing a higher level with an official umpire"... then the bloke at square leg wouldn't shut up about it as though I was having a crack at the batsman. He wouldn't accept I was trying to give the young bloke some information so he doesn't do it when an official ump is around (I learnt the hard way!!! which I told him too...).

and ball pitch outside leg? right arm bowler bowling inswing to a left hand batsman hitting off-stump??? that's not leg stump buddy!!!! maybe if it was a right-hand batsman you would be right but not a lefty buddy!!

oh, and funny how the first bloke who was umpiring would have given out your opening bat if I claimed the caught behind but I was honest enough to say it bounced in-front of me and didn't even try to claim it and his comments were "nice to see some honesty around the place"!!!

we are 0/0 from 1 over.

This was part of his objectives sheet:

[Big chance to show your worth with the bat, put your head down and value your wicket, form a timely partnership with James, listen to what he is telling you, put away the big shots, we NEED a solid start

Can't ask for much more than what he did, our main aim was to be no more than 2 down at the 40 over mark, it took two 17 year olds to ensure this. the other lads task sheet went like this, apart from not getting the half ton, he succeeded aswell.

Same as the top 3, this is an important spot and one that I think you have the right temperament to fulfill. I’ve seen for years the way you can build an innings and once you are in the 40’s the ball goes to wherever you want it to. Head down mate and take this game by the balls, get a Grade 1 half century and then focus on the next landmark.

Although we ended up a little light on runs, the overs crept up on us a bit quick, it was a very positive day and it was good to see the young fella come off smiling after he was dismissed, he gained a fair bit from his knock.

some wickets we deserved werent given coz the umpire who did central to start the innings didnt want to give any LBWs even when they pitched in line and were taking half way up middle and off.... twice!

and I didnt hear any of the 'argument' between the square leg umpire and our keeper, except the one comment the square leg umpire made about it "not being grade 1"... Im pretty sure the rules are the same for everyone  and he was the same spastic that batted at 3 and had a major sook when I took half a step, to set myself into a catching position at silly mid-off, because I was "walking in with the bowler" apparently its "not grade 1" when hes umpiring, but he acts like it is when he's batting...

and FYI he was the one that wanted to continue carrying on about EVERYTHING! the guy doesnt know how to be wrong appar! I dont care how much cricket he's played or at what level... the guy is a W*N**R! and the captain is no better!!

on a positive note, the young fella that opened the batting was a top lad and not a bad bat at all. Seemed to enjoy himself and had a smile on his face the whole innings.
