Not sure what facilites will be open down there but no doubt you will be able to get a beer somehow.

Are u back playing whufc?

With the recent 4 sided 20/20 comp being organised by LM and now EP Pplaying Penfield, surely the association has to look at bringing back the 20/20 comp on a wednesday night! Or even a Super 8's comp

yeah having a crack mate, i played on the weekend didnt bowl and am batting at 6. Was meant to play 'b' grade but had a couple of blokes pull out so went back to the A Grade.

definatly no diving for me in the field thats for sure.

Largely because if clubs trained Tues and Thurs then blokes had cricket Tues, Wed, Thurs and Sat most weeks and many clubs have things happening Friday nights too. Add in extra time if they coach or help juniors and association games on Sundays and it's a lot of cricket. Obviously we aren't talking about everyone having that sort of involvement but a lot of the guys in a club's A grade would be affected. There's also the issue of people working and living further away unable to make a 4:30 start on a weekday.

If we start a T20 comp it should be done in a way to encourage as many top level players as possible to play. And the best way for that is a Sunday fixture IMHO, dodging association games and avoiding it becoming a weekly competition. The reason I say avoid making it weekly is simply to allow other things to happen on Sundays without forcing people to pick and choose. An 8 or 10 team comp, everyone plays each other once, games every fortnight then finals would be ideal IMHO.

Sunday...hahaha, no chance !

This is a big reason why so many people cease playing Grade cricket.

ATCA do it well as their T20 comp runs on Tueday nights, in a round Robin format with games played every 2-3 weeks. Its a training night, so this may just increase participation levels.

Lol. You putting your hand up for Tueday nights then Oz?

I did in the ATCA.

I remember one game vs Payneham.

True Oz. I was thinking the year after when all the fielding side gave me grief umpiring at Square Leg coz I didn't give you out stumped off Mohammed Sheikh when you (in my opinion and yours if I remember) did legitimately make it back.

That first year I can't remember who played.

Hope all is well with you big man. Hopefully we can catch up in the near future or the off-season again.

Make it a Super 8's comp with 14 overs per side, all bowlers bowl 2 overs except wicketkeeper.
Start it at 5.30 wrap it up by 8.

disagree.... 8 a side, 14 overs... everyone bowls too much like junior cricket mate... wud turn into a mickey mouse competition. there isnt the time to fit in a full T20 on an evening... well play it on sundays. i played in the T20 comp last season arranged by LM n thort it was a great success. with some A graders not available to play sundays it gives younger talents a chance to showcase ability in a fun, friendly environment against quality players. i think its great

Not enough time to do it on an evening during the week ?

ATCA seemed to do it pretty successfully.....5-8

Yep we have played two T20's against Central/Penfield and while they havent gone the full forty overs in a match both games finished with plenty of time and light to spare.

Could even bowl 5 overs from one end and then change ends to save the amount of time between overs, if that did become an issue.

It was an ideal set-up, 4 clubs close together, all got to host a double-header, the problem this season was that the SAMCA didn't have their playing dates til a bit late, I had to work around them, and then each club had different dates of availability coming into Christmas.
Not having a role at Smithfield this season also made it harder, hopefully next season we can get it up and running, it was a good money spinner for each club and it was good to have a game with a bit of a crowd.
Could set up comps for other clubs in the PDCA that are in close proximity then have some play-offs.
We had 7 metre run-ups to ensure it didn't drag on and started the early game at 12 and then the late one at 3, not once did the first game go past 2:30pm, even when there was 400+ scored in a Eastern Park vs Playford match.
