No, what I'm saying is that if we go with your $20 packet of darts & refusal or huge penalty for hospital care the hardest hit will be the least able to afford it, no matter that you don't partake & that you've seen office workers smoke the highest rate of smokers are the have nots, like it or not, that's how it is. Nobodys saying that being povvy is no excuse not to smoke, but they still do & always will.

So we bloody well stop them!! What - are you prepared to just sit on your thumbs and let people kill themselves? Are you serious?? If we have a chance to stop people from hurting or killing themselves WE DO IT!!

Point - look at how much money the impoverished push into cigarettes. Now if we stop them from smoking they'll have just a little bit more money in their kick. What's wrong with that?

The "hardest hit" can easily get around the refusal of service - by stopping smoking. Is that so hard to understand? They should have the courage to realise they have a major problem and do something about it.

How dare you call for some slack for people who are engaging in a filthy disgusting habit that KILLS! Next you'll say cut some slack to drug addicts who won't kick the habit. Forget it! If I had my way, cigarettes would be banned completely and thrown out of the country.

As Wedgie said - I've made my point. And Wedgie, the only reason I'm keeping on going is because Sheik is keeping it going trying to change my mind without acknowledging that he will never shake my stand on this issue. You at least saw it was a lost cause.

Phil, we're starting to meander, I'll try to straighten you up back to my original point.

First we have to agree that the of the % of people who smoke, the disadvantaged would be the highest demographic.
Of that disadvantaged group, surely the young indigenous would be doing it the hardest ? no ?

Can we agree on this point, not who should/would/could cease smoking but that smoking hardest hits those who can't afford it.

There is NO EXCUSE for smoking. None. Zero. Zilch. You can throw every single stat you like to try and prove your point. The fact is that these people MUST stop smoking just as much as anyone else should. Even the Aborigines. Smoking does not relieve stress - contrary to the opinions of those in this area. It kills.

Whether or not your stats are correct is irrelevant.

Nah, its a good topic, Ive been seriously considering taking up smoking again just so I don't get classed with some of the people opposed to it on here!
Might not be good for me physically but it'd put me spiritually at ease!
