Can i just say having watched the edited version of the press conferences on Foxsport news, that I've never been more disgusted and ashamed to be South Australian

A six goal thumping and they have the gall to have a go at the match officals (Veart and Kosmina) WTF!!!

no matter what mistakes the match officials made it is plain to see the Adelaide players made so many more and were cut to pieces by a more professional and better drilled team.

You'll never go anywhere in sport or life if you blame others or complain about "negativity" without first looking at yourselves.

Just watching the goals and the other chances the number of times Adelaide were cut to pieces by the through ball and attackers running angles (good to see soccer has been watching hockey tactics). You would have thought after the 2nd goal they would have learnt.

The less said about the leadership and the skipper being sent off the better - got what they deserved

Dead set F***ing disgrace.....

memo to Veart if you want a more professional league don't blame the officials look at your own team as your display in the 20 mins that i could bare to watch was nothing short of amateurish

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Almost as embarrassing as Adelaide United today. Well said mal, mw, dutchy, punk rooster, dinglinga and stampy.
True South Aussies are gutted over this debacle.

Not being a fan of the game, yet vaguely interested in the score, and completely unable to sleep (3:48 AM and I haven't had a wink yet), I logged on here to get the result.

What a lot of crap, that means I and every footy fan should barrack for the Port Power in the AFL as well and as I live South of Adelaide I must barrack for South Adelaide. Clubs I support are built on history and tradition and have nothing to do with the location as to where I live, IMHO that's a pathetic way of choosing a sporting club of any sort.
If it were State of Origin (in the AFL or SANFL) I'd be one of the first lining up for a ticket.
And WTF has North got to do with the soccer (besides being called the reds over 100 years before AU were)?
If they did have anything to do with the soccer I'd point out we kept Port to a lower score than 1989 in a GF but as its completely irrelevent I wont, whoops!
(And at least we scored! )
Get a grip people, free speech and some of us aren't sheep.
Christ, talk about sore losers.

Look on the bright side, the ACL starts soon, its not like you have to wait until next season like you would in footy. :D

Wedgie, I believe you and I were the only people to tip Melbourne on this thread. :) How anyone thought Adelaide were going to win after their slog to get there astounds me.

The real soccer fans should be thrilled that a club game in Australia can draw 55,000 - no AFL match has ever pulled that many at Telstra Dome.

Im sure if victoria only had 1 AFL they would get 55, 000 at telstra doom, comparing crowd figures is a bit of a joke really... didnt see to many crowds of 80,000 plus in the A-league this year...

what i've learnt from this season- Kosmina can't coach, Ross is a moron, richie and carl are past it, bruce will be a star and costanzo should be captain. we also need to find a decent full back and another quality proven goal scorer.

Next they'll be saying that Adelaide won't win a GF with Kosi as coach, just like they did with Ron Fuller at the Eagles.

A few valid points above....I agree with Wedgie that they are a club side not a state side, you dont have to follow them just because they are based here....also the Telstra Dome gets reconfigured for soccer games which allows them and Rugby to get over the normal 52,000 you get for AFL, if you look closely you will notice the bottom section of seats are rolled out onto the footy playing surface allowing the extra 3,000 seats, something they cant do for AFL games....

end of the day there are more positives than negatives for the club and for soccer out of this season....

Tassie - I saw the Veart comments and without seeing the whole media conference I dont think you can comment, it was an isolated grab to a pointed question from the media and Veart has a valid point...the league has gone ahead miles and miles yet the refs are still part timers...i think he was referring more to last weeks Kemp debacle than yesterdays game

Might need to read back a bit further Big Mac, I tipped the Victory 3-nil (I probably should have tipped on the 2nd half aswell  ).

This "Choker" tag is so overrated, especially when more often than not it's placed on a team who just simply weren't as good (The Power, Crows & WWT have all been labelled unfairly in recent memory) ... Melbourne were/are a much better team than Adelaide and rightly won the title ... Adelaide's plastering over cracks all year finally saw the house come down, unfortunately for them it was on the biggest stage.

Also, whilst sparing a thought for United fans, spare some for the Newcastle fans who I'm sure would be believe they had the team to seriously challenge Melbourne (I'd agree with them too).

FWIW, I agreee with the bit I read on Vearts thoughts toward the Ref's, they have been worse than average for the entire season and the competition needs to drastically improve in this area ... I would if I were he however, have waited until WELL after a mauling like this to make those comments!

Was a bitter pill to swallow watching the game yesterday, but when you're not in the same class as another side, there are no excuses.

Still can't believe that it was such a rout!
Archie T five goals!!!??? And with that hair he could be called Mr T.
And I don't think he's got the time to spare to "pity da fools" either.
Well done to the Victory.

Adelaide terrible.
Poor positioning, bad leadership and lack of poise. Their touch was shocking.

Congrats for getting there - now it's time to look to the future.

Fu*k off Kossie
Fu*k off Aloisi

And

Watched the first 15 minutes, thought we were in trouble early, went and did some other stuff, flicked the Tv on 40 minutes later to see us 3-0 down and gone, couldn't bear to watch the rest!

Melbourne just to good - especially a couple of blokes called Archie & Fred !!!

I think the Kemp decision from the week before had hurt United more than any thing that happened against the Victory !!!

United looked more likekly to score when Djite / Burns / Dodd and an injured Spagnolia were on the park together - hopefully the coaching staff noticed that for the future !!!
It is what it is !!!

I know very little about the dynamics of soccer and I may be out of my depth
but will give my outsider looking in comments about the first SET defeat 6-0.

There cant be that much difference between the teams.
2 weeks ago AU were minutes away from a direct route to the grand final
and were beaten by the same team 1-2 in Melbourne.

OK now lets see what happened after that.

AU played on a hard Telstra Doom staduim in the 1-2 loss
AU played overtime in the pre-lim final v NEW in a hard fought game
AU travelled back to MELB to play on a hard surface after a hard previous fortnight
AU obviously jaded travelled and played in the heat[ assume it was hot ???]
The referees got 2 calls wrong, which cost AU 2 goals
MUSCAT assassinated DIEGO + he was a non contributor after
ALOISI bumped the MELB player and was sent off[less impact than the MUSCAT foul]
AU played most of the game with 10 men
AU had a coach who sat in the grandstand.
AU played on the oppositions home ground

I know IF IF IF IF is a big word in sport
But what IF we reversed all the disadvantages + this was played in Adelaide yesterday.
Me thinks an Adelaide win.

6-0 is not a SET true indication of the abilities of both clubs.
Yes MELB deserved any advantages after the 1-2 thriller from 2 weeks ago.

I feel the better team won but they are surely not that superior to win 6-0

DID WE ALL SEE TELSTRA DOOMS ROOF YESTERDAY
When raining half the oval was under cover and DRY and the other half was WET

SA GREAT

Ross, Ross, Ross
Has a captain ever let his team down more in sporting history than today.

Your actions were neither tough nor hard. Maybe you failed to tell us that you have multiple personalities and Byron Pickett made an appearance again. Either way, today proved the differences between a captain who is a hard nut and captain who is a THUG, unfortunatly Ross, Muscat is an out and out hard man.

Your words in the ceremony after the game (apoligising to all South Australians) shows that you understand the occasion, yet at the crucial time of the year you failed to understand the occasion. Adelaide United may never have won the game from 2-0 down but your actions gave the team absolutly zero chance of getting back to a draw.

If i was you Ross i would really struggle to look into my team mates eyes today. You let ten of your best mates down today, you unwittingly jumped of a sinking ship and left your mates for dead.

Your time is now to relinquish the United captaiancy, go visit Barry Hall about matureing as a player a get back to what you do best, play football
