Barossa & Light Cricket Association 2010-11

After the success of the Queensland Flood appeal "Bash4Cash" day we were asked by a lot of people if we could/would make the Bash4Cash an annual event.

I am happy to say that we have started organising a day for next season - aiming to be held on Sunday, November 20th, 2011.

I have sent emails to the ATCA, PDCA, C&CCA and B&L Cricket Associations asking for them to support the event and we are hoping that this can become an annual event and we can use the day to raise money for a different charity every year. The coming event will be raising money for the "Haemophilia Foundation of Australia" (HFA). I have already been in contact with the HFA, who are extremely happy to receive our support. http://www.haemophilia.org.au/

Well done to the Ango boys yesterday. A great display of cricket but I am not going to get on here and gloat because me head is still sore. I did go down to the local last night to have a celebratory drink with the lads and unfortunately got caught up in the moment and can't remember what time I got home, just remember the missus saying to me that I wasn't 18 anymore.

While on the topic of a few drinks at the pub, I recall a few Gilbert Valley boys jumping on the Ango bandwagon and had a decent session with the boys last night. They didn't seem too bad a lads but not sure who they were but vaguely remember the nicknames, Boof, Hosko and Rocky if my memory serves me correct. Apparently the whisper is that the new Mayor of Angaston signed all three up to play at Angaston next year so that they can feel that winning feeling.

very enjoyable day on sunday at tanunda, more importantly got to see 5 cricketers i really liked the look of in the game. As the game was a bit one sided it was tough to look at too many nuri players but thought T.Jungfer was impressive with the ball. For angaston i thought any one of three bloke could've won the man of the match and all three of these id be keen to get down to try outs in early october, burgess brothers i have been keeping up with the stats on my cricket and seen ben had made alot of runs this years. Looks really good. Timed his innings perfectly. And i can't believe he isn't in town just for his keeping. Great gloveman. Brother brett i was told was a bowler and not much with the bat. He showed he certainly can do both, 27 not out of 14 balls and two big 6's and 3 for 15 aswell. Drops a couple kg's and the guy is still young enough to make a impact at district level. The one guy who i must admit excited me the most was woodards from angaston. Bowled beautifully, good pace and speaking to my old mate brett lydeamore said he bowls big inswingers. They are really tough to deal with in twenty 20 cricket. Also i see a bit in blinkiron aswell was a bit astray and a few too many noey's but was by far the quickest bowler of the day and did bowl real quick at times.

Hi Neil, i work with brett burgess and he mentioned you gave him a call this morning and now he is getting around work as happy as a pig in well you know what. As angaston number 3 supporter after duke and under the pack i just wanted to pass on my opinions. Both brett woodards and matt blenkiron could be anything. They both are as good as any bowler in the comp when they get it right. And to have ben klemm and brett burgess almost take a back seat to them after leading the attack for 10 years is a great thing for angaston cricket. As for the burgess boys brett has never looked like he has enjoyed his cricket as much as what he has in the past year and a bit i think the captaincy really agrees with him. Not the greatest season for jobby but rather have him than not when the big games come around =). Benny ever since i remember has said he is the best gloveman in the state. He continually tells us he is better than Manou. Which is actually very hard to argue with. Would bat better than choco as well. All in all im a very happy angaston supporter at the moment. We just now need to get our mind sets from one day to two day cricket.
So after all that Neil all im saying is if you take any of the ango boys you have mentioned you won't be let down.

scuddly... you know im a massive fan of burgess senior, almost to the point that its a little creepy, but lets get real, facing the likes of rimmington, cummins, s. clarke, pattinson snr & jnr, hilf... would be somewhat harder then that of mullins, jungfer, AP, and guppa!

Knowing those two boys duke i bet that argument gets brought up all the time. Pretty sure the voss brothers aren't the right brothers to compare the burgess brothers too. They are so evenily matched as good as ben is with the bat brett is with the ball. Ben will straight away argue that point because of his stellar year with the bat this year but just last year he struggled to get 400 runs in the year while brett took 38 wickets. So we all have our good and bad years. And then on the flip side ben has taken some pretty handy wickets over the years as brett has made some crucial runs. And both wicket keep obviously ben is number one as brett bowls more but when ben bowls brett takes the gloves and is comfortably the 2nd best burgess keeper in competition behind ben. =) i would compare them to probably the jarman brothers both different types of players but on there day match winners! =) =) =)

Under the pack, i have always enjoyed reading your blogs but i have to disagree today you read my last blog wrong. I never said they were both keepers definatly only one of them is a keeper but the other does a reasonable job when needed. Bit better than a back stop.
